Can radio stations play only released singles or can they play any song off of a CD? Thanks!

Occasionally there are ceast and desist orders. Radio started playing "The Rising" by Bruce Springsteen before the record company wanted them to.

Thanks for the info. I know that the radio stations have to log every song they play so that the proper royalties get paid. Just playing released singles would certainly make it easier to track it all.
Anyone have a radio station that plays a whole CD? We used to have a college station in my hometown that would play the whole "album" and it was great!

CHR-Pop has given syndicated airplay based at Z100 New York City to albums like "No Strings Attached" a week before they came out, but I don't here of radio stations playing whole albums regularly. If you like the music you would like the album on CD better than listening to it on the radio with talking and commercials.

Speaking of which, when I first worked for KKTX (96X), they used to have a weekly feature every Sunday night about 10pm called New Album Audition. Then about six months after that, they cancelled the whole show altogether.
