So, Papa Roach move up another spot this week. I'm just guessing here, but perhaps a few people won't like it. ;) You're right, and I'm one of those people >:( On the plus side, at least the two droppers this week are recurrents, and we have one song that goes recurrent this week on R&R, but I think it's about done on AT40 (Since this chart corresponds to the February 3 chart, that song is, of course, "Wake Me Up When September Ends" by Green Day). Thus, there are now only four recurrents on R&R this week. Three of those will probably stick around for quite awhile, including "Scars" by Papa Roach. It has five more weeks until it ties the 3DD record. I have a feeling that "You And Me" will probably break the record if Papa Roach doesn't, as it moves back up a spot in its 36th week on the chart, so I think it has a good chance of being on for 50 weeks. With only four recurrents, the top 35 songs of the matching R&R chart are all on AT40. And the top 37 has at least been on AT40 (they seem to have prematurely dropped "Soul Survivor" last week even though it was still riding high on R&R). It looks like "Catch Your Wave" is out of the running to re-enter AT40 as it slips from 37 to 39 without a bullet. With "I'm N Love (Wit A Stripper) being this week's Breakout Track, "Beep" by the Pussycat Dolls featuring Will.i.am is the only song in the Top 40 of the R&R chart not to yet be featured on AT40. Maybe it'll be next weekend's Breakout Track if it doesn't make the chart. I sure hope that "Scars" takes a huge dive next week, but, with the way things have been going, I wouldn't be surprised to see it re-enter the Top 30 next week!

I'm just guessing here, but perhaps a few people won't like it. ;) Hey, at least they're not pulling it with one of those Kelly Clarkson songs. I'm well aware I'm in the minority on this one, but still I'll espouse the notion that the recurrent rule should be abolished. And you know, I could be wrong about this, but I think if R&R just decided to abolish the recurrent rule, the chart would probably look somewhat natural within a year or so. I mean, I seriously don't think you'd wind up with a half-dozen 40-week songs every week (on the pop chart at least); at first sure, but I can't see why it wouldn't even itself out after a while. Of course, it's record label politics that's the real reason behind its implementation (since labels can't promote new artists when older songs are clogging up the chart), and while that's a valid point, it doesn't make it any better in my view.

friday..look at the post without the recurrent rule...you'll be hearing "Yeah" and "In Da Club" on the countdown 3 years after release Yeah, but what I'm saying is if the chart really didn't have a recurrent rule, it might not look like that. Obviously, if you substitute the recurrents into the chart as it is, it'll be the golden oldies hours; that's because it's been assimilated to having the rule for ten years now. My theory is that if you eliminated the rule, then once the chart readjusts itself, you won't have so many old tracks. Hey, maybe I'm just talking out of my ass here, and I'm sure most people here will agree with that, but I say the only way to find out for sure is to try it out.

I see where friday's coming from here, and I agree with him to an extent. Just look at the AC chart; over the past several years, they've changed the recurrent rule at least 3 times, each time making it more strict. And as a result, it's taking old songs longer than ever now to lose spins. Just look at songs like "Drift Away" by Uncle Kracker, which still has enough airplay to be #14 on the current chart nearly three years after its release. Even "You'll Be In My Heart", which has the all-time WOC record, fell out of the top 20 after 87 weeks. AC playlists are moving slower than ever now and I'm not at all convinced that changing the recurrent rule hasn't augmented the problem.

They played "I'm in love (With a Dancer)" instead "I'm in Love (With A Stripper)"

They played "I'm in love (With a Dancer)" instead "I'm in Love (With A Stripper)" Yeah I can't stand that stupid edited version. The chorus sounds so much worse.

My favorite non-countdown song this week was "No Letting Go." My second favorite was "Dip It (Low)."

I wonder why they played "I'm in love (With a Dancer)" instead "I'm in Love (With A Stripper)". I missed the AT40 Sleaze Of Week feature?
However, if you haven't heard the Seacrest Sleaze of the week, IN TOUCH magazine has the pictures. There is a delicious shot of Ryan Seacrest swapping spit with a stripper at the Rhino in Las Vegas, reportedly taking place this week.

I wonder why they played "I'm in love (With a Dancer)" instead "I'm in Love (With A Stripper)". Probably so they didn't offend the affiliates in the Bible Belt. The same thing has happened in the past with songs like "We Be Burnin' (Legalize It)" to "We Be Burnin' (Recognize It)" and "Shake Ya Ass" to "Shake It Fast."

Sounds like toein' the company line.... & the fact that Ryan Seacrest was making out with a Stripper this week (& it was caught on film) had nothing to do with the editing this song. or Did It? :o It's probably his favorite tune of the moment. ;)

I guess a lot of record labels put out alternate versions for potentially offensive songs. My local station also plays "Don't Mess With My Heart." Rick Dees did as well.
