Okay, as many of you know there are two versions to the CHR/Pop charts (as well as every other chart). One is CHR/Pop: 216.52.224.23/mmrweb/AllAccess/Charts.asp?format=h1r&cutoff=0&showtopn=2000And the other is: 216.52.224.23/mmrweb/AllAccess/Charts.asp?format=h1MA lot of people say that the Mainstream Hit one is not the "official" chart that people base there radio stats on... I heard it's because there are extra stations added to that panel... But why does that make it unofficial? And why are there more stations added on in the first place? Why don't they count towards the regular CHR/Pop chart? Hopefully someone can help... Thanks!

As far as the question about which chart is "official"... the h1r chart is the one published in Radio & Records, which is why it's given precedence over the h1m (which isn't available to the general public... or isn't supposed to be, at least ;) ). Same goes for the other "r" vs. "m" charts (and in the cases of the Country, AC, and Hot AC charts, it's the "r" charts that get used for national countdown shows, not the "m").
As to why there are differences in the panels, that's a decision made by R&R. They have criteria they use to determine which stations they want to use for their charts (which I can't divulge, since I don't know).

I'm a bit confused. You said the h1r chart is the official one... But then how come that link doesn't come up when you click "Charts Menu" all the h1m charts come up. If anything. those are the ones that are made public. I got all of the h1r (or official charts) from this website, not from the actual mediabase ones. LOL it's so confusing haha.

Maybe R&R doesn't want the real ones (h1r) to be leaked out to the publc, lmao.

It's based more on ratings and the size of the stations as to why these stations are left off the "official" panel... generally, the low rated stations and the very small market stations are the ones left off...

What I meant was that R&R makes all their charts available to the general public (you don't have to be "in the industry" to access charts on their website or subscribe to their mag). As far as the actual Mediabase charts, you have to be a Mediabase subscriber to access the full charts (unless you're privy to the "secret" links we've found). The only other way to access them is through AllAccess (which again, you're technically supposed to be "in the industry" to sign up, although it's easy to bluff your way in), and even then you only get abbreviated charts.
