HOT 103 Victoria has made the switch to Jack-FM, Rogers' Classic Hits brand that now boasts 6 stations across Canada. Over the past year, HOT 103 had been adding more HotAC friendly music to it's playlist.
Chum Radio had recently acquired HotAC rival B107.3 and it was widely rumoured that a format flip to BOB (Chum's own brand of Classic Hits stations) was imminent.
Rogers Jack-FM stations:
103.1 Victoria BC 96.9 Vancouver BC 96.9 Calgary AB 92.3 Smiths Falls ON 105.9 Orillia ON 92.5 Toronto ON
Chum BOB-FM stations:
99.9 Winnipeg MB 93.9 Ottawa ON 103.7 Brockville ON 102.3 London ON
Corus Classic Hits stations:

Trivia question: What was the first guy named Classic Hits station in Canada?

What exactly are WE (the younger ones) supposed to listen to? Damn! It's either Classic Hits or Hot AC... oh man...

Jack and its ilk have been hugely succesful in some markets like Calgary but in the most important market, Toronto, jack seems to have fallen flat with no signs of it doing much better than the Kiss format.

Toronto is the only major market I've seen where this kind of format hasn't worked.
#1 Vancouver #1 Calgary #3 Winnipeg #5 Ottawa #10 Toronto
Leaf makes a good point. Canadian radio is only sealing it's own fate by abandoning the 12-24 demo.

Yay, more crap to clog the airwaves. I have a feeling we're not finished yet.

What's with naming radio stations after guys? Do I just not get it, not being Canadian and all? ;)

It all started with BOB Winnipeg. All the major Canadian radio owners lack innovation and copy each other whenever possible. Corus however tries to do it as cheaply and with little care about talent and quality as possible.

Ah... so, kind of like if American companies copied Clear Channel's "Kiss" brand... we'd have stuff like Hug 102, Grope 97.1, etc. (Orlando did have a BJ 105 a few decades ago... makes ya go hmmm!) ;)
