AC radio managed to do something this chart year that they haven't done in a while: put TWO uptempo songs to Number One. Going by Billboard, "Unwell" went to #1 back in December/January, and "This One's For The Girls" more recently.
Is this an indicator of things to come with AC?

I can see where the 2 songs I mentioned are subjective as to whether or not they're "uptempo". I consider them both uptempo in comparison to other #1 AC songs, but of course similar-tempo songs could include "A New Day Has Come", "The Game of Love", "Can't Stop Loving You", or "I'll Be There For You" [going back to '95 for that one].
I guess it's all how you look at it. But it does seem that AC isn't refined so much to the ballads.

It's not hard rock but it's not a ballad. That doesn't make it uptempo though, just because it isn't a ballad.

I'd call "Unwell" midtempo (although I s'pose that does make it uptempo by AC standards... and "This Love" is practically thrash metal). :)

I'm surprised "This Love" is doing better than "Summer Breeze '04".
