Download "Manchild". It was the UK followup single and FAR better. Shocking that it was never a US hit. It hit the top 5 here and is a classic, I hear it FAR more than Buffalo Stance these days.

Energy 92.7 plays this almost everyday. I like this song. It's a lot of fun.

I love this jam. It really got a lot of people to the clubs at the time. Too bad that she wasn't able to churn out any hits after that.

I love "Buffalo Stance". It's a great, fun, dancy hip-hop track! The hook is a catchy gem.

The hook, "it's sweetness that I'm thinking of" gets a lot of mix-in play, even today. I recall hearing it at prom 3 years ago, 13 years after the song's release.

Love it!
I was living near Buffalo at the time it was out in the UK.
Buffalo radio stations jumped on it and it was the first market to play the sing in the USA.

Damn, this was, is and always will be hot! Neneh Cherry was always a bit unjusticed, IMO. Her first two album, "Raw Like Sushi" and "Homebrew", had some of the most interesting songwriting and production ideas ever found on dance-pop records, and she even got a ton of critical acclaim for both records at the time. But she got a bit pegged by the easy-going, er, stance of this song and the general public never gave her a real chance.

Actually, she did have at least one more Top Ten hit, "Kisses On The Wind" in late summer, 1989. Peaked at number eight, but didn't stay around very long. She also had a song from early 1993 called "Buddy X", but I'm not sure where it peaked. Somewhere in the teens, IIRC. But you're right - none of her hits equalled the success of "Buffalo Stance".

He's her half-brother (different fathers). I'm pretty sure they had the same father. How could they have the same last name if their fathers were different?

She apparently took his last name after her mother married him (sorta like the Brady daughters ;) ). Eagle-Eye was born later.

Oddly, the week after it peaked at #8, it fell to 24. The week after that it was gone from the Top 40. Talk about your fast fall...! (These are Billboard stats; "Kisses on the Wind" only reached #12 on R&R.)

Wow, that's almost as weird as "Real Real Real" by Jesus Jones peaking at #4, then falling back to 23 and then down to #50. Yeah, I guess everyone got sick of "Kisses On The Wind" quickly.

Wow, this song brings back some childhood memories! I remember hearing this a lot when I would go to Buffalo with my family as a kid (actually I still go there with them every now and then but of course I never hear the song now). Great song and very catchy.

my favorite line from this song: "so DON'T you get fresh with me"... LOL.
never did get into neneh's music much... next to this, i'd say "buddy x" was the only other song that comes to mind (at least to me...)
i did however LOVE her collaboration with youssou n'dour. ;)

I've always really liked this song, but can someone tell me what a buffalo stance is? According to UrbanDictionary.com here are 4 definitions. I'm thinking it could be either of the first two. - The way a prostitute stands on the corner is called the "Buffalo Stance." - To stand with your arms tighly crossed looking over to side at somebody. This comes from the pose struck by Bruce Smith of the Buffalo Bills in the late 1980's - to be stubborn - the way a buffalo stands

Great song, and I still have the CD5 UK CD Single that won't fit into my car stereo even with the adapter. That's one of the first and only CD Singles that I've ever bought in Cambridge England where I often shopped.
