I was at the Pilot gas station the other day and I heard a new version of the Thompson Twins classic "Hold Me Now". Who sings it?

You might be right. I just did a Google search and it did show that Wayne Wonder does sing it.

Tonight, at the Pilot gas station, I heard "Move Away" from Culture Club. I know I haven't heard that since the 80s. After that, "Crash & Burn" from Savage Garden played.

Do you work at the Pilot gas station?

^^ LOL...no. I do work part-time as a tech support geek and the station is near where I work, so I usually stop there. Plus, it's usually less expensive than other gas stations.

Hearing "When I Think of You" by Lee Ryan in a bowling alley here was pretty wierd, since that song was barely released in the UK and completely unknown. The wierdest part is that it was like some satellite radio station playing reggaeton and hardcore rap besides it. 3-6 Mafia's "Sippin on Some Syrup" was on at one point.

Today, I heard "Time and Tide" from Basia while at Barnes and Noble. Wow, that's two for that song. Michael1973 heard that song at a supermarket back in early November. I actually heard it on the radio (WEFM) in Michigan City back in mid-September. Oddly enough, I heard her other hit from the late-80s, "New Day For You" on that same station last week. But that's for the other topic.

Today I heard the following songs, right in a row, at the supermarket:
Bryan Adams -- "Do I Have To Say The Words?" (not the first time I've heard it there) Kylie Minogue -- "Love At First Sight" Janet Jackson -- "Doesn't Really Matter"

Yesterday, I heard "Falling In Love (Uh-Oh)" from the Miami Sound Machine. Been some years since I heard it. And to Chris (ulij20): no, I did not hear it at the Pilot gas station. Instead, it was at a grocery store.

I heard "C'est La Vie" by B*Witched inside of Pizza Antica today. It was totally random. Yesterday, I heard "Falling In Love (Uh-Oh)" from the Miami Sound Machine. Been some years since I heard it. And to Chris (ulij20): no, I did not hear it at the Pilot gas station. Instead, it was at a grocery store. I hear that song in Famous Footwear everytime I go there!

The other night at a local restuarant I heard "In Walked Love" by Expose. They also played some semi-obscure stuff ilke Christopher's Cross' "Arthur's Theme" and DeBarge's "Rhythm of the Night" too.
I also heard John Lennon's "(Just Like) Starting Over" at CVS today.

I wouldn't call "Rhythm of the Night" from DeBarge obscure, though some of the younger people here wouldn't know it too well, if at all. Christopher Cross and John Lennon would fit the bill better.

Instead, it was at a grocery store. Believe it or not, it's not that obscure, when I'm really listening to that store music channnel at work, it's usually on at least once a day. I think it was a huge AC hit, yet it kinda peaked low on CHR.

Since you hear it everyday, it may not be so obscure to you. However, for everyone else, it's like "Hey, I hadn't heard that in a long time!" On CHR, I remember it barely making into the top 30 on Billboard (like #28 or #29?).

Yesterday at Walgreens, I heard "Is This Love" by Survivor. It's not as obscure, however, to me since I have a tendency to hear it about twice a year.

I recently heard "Your Loving Arms" by Darden Smith somewhere. Seems that it might have been at Meijer, but I can't be sure. The song was a Top Ten AC hit in the fall of 1993, but I don't think it even touched the Pop chart, which sort of surprised me. Mainstream AC type hits were at least making minor impressions on the Pop charts back then.

Just remembered - a few weekends ago, I heard "Back To The World" by Tevin Campbell at Old Country Buffet. I believe this was the first time I ever heard it, because back when it was charting in 1996, the only countdown show I had access to was the Rick Dees Weekly Top 40 and it was the AC show. To make sure, I looked up the lyrics to the song on Google Search when I got home and sure enough, they indeed matched up to those I'd heard at the restaurant.

I believe so. Unless he had a few other very minor AC hits, but I can't say that I remember any. But this was definitely his only "big" hit.
