This is my all time favorite Smashing Pumpkins tune. It never made the BillBoard Hot 100 but did manage a #5 peak on Mainstream Rock and a #8 peak at Alterntive. It peaked at #2 on my chart. It was there highet charting single!! How did this song do on the radio? I don't have those statistics

I don't really listen to that much alternative from the past several years, but I loved The Smashing Pumpkins.
"Mellon Collie..." is one of my Top 30 favorite albums of all times and it's definitely one of the definitive 90's albums to me. I remember hearing so many SP songs on the radio when that album was out.
This is a great song. It's not my favorite from the album, but amazing nonetheless.

This one had a rather unusual CHR/Pop run, owing a lot to R&R's methodology changes in 1994:
40-36-off-39-38-31-34-off-38-31-31-off
I liked it when it came out, not so much anymore.

Billy Corgan always had a way to make great songs, this is one of them (IMO)

I hated The Smashing Pumpkins all throughout the 90's, and I never even saw the light until about a year an a half ago.
Now, I think this is one of their best tracks.

This was actually the first Smashing Pumpkin song I ever heard (when it charted in the pop top 40). Now I think it's one of the best alternative tracks of all-time.

I prefer "Cherub Rock" more, but you can't go wrong with this. One of the great rock bands of the 90s. They played this live at some awards show, I guess it was MTV, and instead of strings used guitars, and with Billy's awful live vocals, and out of tune guitars playing the violin parts it sounded so awful that it was great!! I know that doesn't sound like it makes sense, but trust me, it was amazing.

Gee, for as much gold airplay as this gets, I'm surprised this wasn't a #2 or #1. This and a lot of other radio golds.

I never liked this at all. I liked a lot of stuff of of "Mellon Collie...", but nothing else the Pumpkins put out did anything for me.

The Pumpkins are one of my all-time favorite bands, as I think now I only prefer VAST, The White Stripes, and NIN to them. This single is beautiful (no pun intended). It's brilliant. It was interesting on Vieuphoria to hear them go acoustic on "Cherub Rock", and a heavier version of "Disarm", that was just as good.

A year or two ago, either Casey or Ed McMann did a list of songs that re-entered the Top 40 on 2 occassions. This was one of them. I think "Big Pimpin'" was on the list or maybe "Party Up" and "We Like To Party" and "Don't Know Why."

"Today" was and still is better than this song, however in saying that, "Today" is probably in my top 10 songs of the nineties and Disarm wouldnt really be too far behind. Plus the ice cream truck video was made of awesome.

"Today," "Disarm" and "Cherub Rock" are all SOOOOOOOO excellent. All might possibly be in the my top ten of the '90's. I actually may prefer "Cherub Rock" of the three big songs from Siamese Dream. It's such an incredible opening jolt to the album.

Just listened to it again. Gorgeous! 3:16 is much too short a running time for a song as great as this!

Love it! Takes me back to the exciting summer of '94. This is when the big change was happening in R&R's charts and really threw a wrench in the countdown shows.

Ever since this was stuck in my head once during a snowy experience, I like listening to this song on the first snow of the year. It goes really well with it.
