I know that Michael Bolton isn't exactly hip, but this was one of my guilty pleasures from 1993-1994. :)

I was all into this one when it was out (or a few years old, I can't even remember).

I like it. It was his last top ten pop hit.

This song sounds very much like "Thought I'd Died And Gone To Heaven" by Bryan Adams.

The first gold single for Michael Bolton. That's right, his big hits, "Love Is A Wonderful Thing, When A Man Loves A Woman, and How Am I SUpposed To Live Without You," never made gold status. In 1997, he had his second gold single with "Go The Distance."

Yeah, I remember Casey mentioning on AT20 that "SILY...BIL" was his first gold single. He hasn't played that song in awhile.
BTW, I like how you only used one set of quotation marks around all 3 titles. :)

In January of 1994, when this song was still in the Top 40, Casey did a story on how Michael was sleeping in his hotel when the 6.7 earthquake struck in Northridge. It was a good story. :)

Is this the universal song that Michael Bolton haters like? I ask because I can't stand him, yet I do like this song.
He's a real phony this guy, he started out as a southern rocker, when that didn't work, he turned to early 80s Bon Jovi styled rock, (I have a 45 of his for the song "Fools Game" which I think made it into the mid 80s on the pop chart) and when that didn't work, he found his niche doing lousy r&b with an over emotive voice. and he found his calling judging from his success. this is why i grew up and angry man, cause garbage like him was dominating the pop charts while artists like Alexander O'Neal, Freddie Jackson, Luther Vandross, Eugene Wilde, the list goes on and on, couldn't get far superior stuff to penetrate the pop charts. really a shame.

He has another song with subtitles that I like: "Can I Touch You...There?" I like that song also. When he finally started making good music he decides to drop off the face of the earth. I don't understand it.

I saw some guy walking outside the student center wearing *gasp* a Michael Bolton T-shirt. I'm usually not one to laugh at people for their taste in music, but I had to struggle not to in this case.

On the AC chart, Mark Wallengren mentioned it had made a high debut at #12. 12 years ago this week in 1993, it debuted at #12 on the AC chart on its way to a 10 week stay at #1.

I remember when this song was climbing the charts, Dick Clark mentioned several records that it set. When it debuted on the entire AC chart at #12, that was the highest debut since the summer of 1987, when "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" by Michael Jackson & Siedah Garrett also debuted at #12. Then, when it hit #1 in just its third week, it tied the record set by "Welcome Back" by John Sebastian, which raced to #1 in its third week on, but it was actually its fourth week in release. Back in 1976, the AC charts went down to 40, so the song debuted at #37, moved to 13, then to 3 and finally to #1. However, even if the chart was a Top 40 back in 1993, Michael probably would still have broken the record, because the song went for adds the week that it debuted so high.

On the US Music Survey this week, Mark Wallengren mentioned 12 years ago this week in 1993 it moved 12-4 on the AC chart. That seems like a huge move in the top 10 especially for AC.

What, they played the song two weeks in a row?? No, he just ran a list of songs just entering the top 5 that week. I was surprised to hear "Said I Loved You But I Lied" mentioned for two weeks in a row.

This song SUCKS. And why is he lying about loving this person? No wonder I used to refer to this song as "The Mean Song"!

This song SUCKS. And why is he lying about loving this person? No wonder I used to refer to this song as "The Mean Song"! He's not lying about loving the person. He's saying he loves them more than words can explain and using the word "love" would be a lie, because his feelings go beyond that. Corny perhaps, but he's not saying he's not in love with the person.
