I was glad they did a spotlight on another year, and even more so that it was 1982, which was a great year in music. Good selection of songs, too - you don't hear "Somebody's Baby" or "Truly" to often on AC radio. The latter is quite a surprise, since it's very AC-friendly (but let's play the hell out of that damn "All Night Long"!) The other songs you hear a lot, but at least not everytime you turn on the radio.
Back to only one Long Distance Dedication, and it's the champion of all LDD's, Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me". I figured it would be, since as Casey was teasing the LDD, he said something about the writer's son being her eyes when she couldn't see. Oh well, I'd rather hear that song than crap like "Tears In Heaven" or "Hero".
Cool selection of AT10 Archive songs, with the prerequisite song from the 1960s and a lot of early 70s, too. I had almost forgotten about "Hole In The World" by the Eagles (thanks for reminding us, Casey!). No, seriously, it was actually cool to hear the song again. Thankfully, it doesn't receive too much recurrent airplay - at least on the station that I listen to. They also played "A Moment Like This", a song I heard on two occasions at the same store (Jewel/Osco) within a few weeks of each other. It was about this time in 2002 that the song was released. I heard the world premiere of it on Kiss FM on Labor Day, 2002.
As for the chart, we're back on track with debuts the second weekend of the month. August's debut came a little late. And Lionel Richie leaves the chart once again. Will it be back? Probably, especially if a song below number five on R&R hits the 50 mark before long, or "Here Without You", which is this month's debut, drops below number 15 on R&R. How long has that song been on the R&R chart anyway? It's not nearing 50 weeks, is it?
For a second week in a row, "Heaven" by Los Lonely Boys makes the biggest move of the week, from 8-5-3. Will the song hit #1? It's possible, especially if "100 Years" is running out of gas. Of course, they also have to get past Maroon5, who also have a chance at hitting #1. Martina McBride looks like she's done, as she falls 2-4. But I'm getting tired of that song, so it's just as well that it never hit #1 (though, let's remember, this is the AC chart; she could still do it) Those three songs are the ones that really have any kind of chance at going to #1 in the near future. I'm pretty sure that "Here Without You" won't be going much higher than its debut position of number ten.
