Another particular favorite of mine from the 1980's. My brother and I agonized for years over what they were saying in the "Marconi" lyric. This was of course before lyrics were available online!

Some radio stations had a custom mix of the song, you know, at the instrumental bridge, there's radio dialogue. U93 recorded their own dialogue for the song (basically, they just dubbed it into a version of the song without the San Francisco radio station dialogue)

I have the WLOL mix of the song with their morning DJs. Plus, I recorded the extended version they played on the Party Zone show. Those versions sure gave me many hours of enjoyable listeing.
I'm sure other stations did the same. It was a great song to put a local twist exclusive to your market & station.

I'll give it a C+. I like Chaquico's solo smooth jazz stuff better.

Blender Magazine and VH-1 said last year that this was one of the worst songs of all-time. But I think it's OK.

Anyone remember the radio voice that made famous on that song? Well, he was already famous and still is. Radio veteran and one of the originators of MTV now a consultant named Les Garland provided that little DJ chatter on the bridge. I've learned of this after surfing the web at www.reelradio.com. Also, I've listened to an aircheck of his when he was "guest hosting" a night show for Y95 in Dallas (now KLTY). He still has it.

One of the best songs of the 80s. Damn, 1985 had a lot of great music...
I researched this song's two weeks at #1 and found an interesting bit of chart irony. For both of the weeks that this was #1, Glenn Frey's "You Belong to the City" was #2 (this happened on BOTH R&R and Billboard!). How 'bout that? ;)[/font]

I can go with that. Gimme anything by Jefferson Airplane over this, though.

I like this too, but this may be the only place I've seen where that makes me part of the majority.
