One of thier best in my opinion. I love this song and still can listen to it today and not get sick of it. I was happy to see this song peaked at #4 on the Hot 100

The best acoustic ballad from the hair metal era. An A+

Gun N' Roses had potential for me to like their songs, but I just can't stand Axl's voice at all!

Great song! Too bad it doesn't get played anymore. I think their last Top 40 appearance was "Since I Don't Have You" in 1994. They're in need of another hit.

I liked a lot of Guns N' Roses songs and this was no exception. Best of the hair metal ballads? I'm not sure, I think there are a number of them that rank right up with this one. The only reason hair metal got so overdone was the recognition of the hit potential of a power ballad. Once these became popular everybody and their dog was starting up a hair metal band. It really cheapened it for the bands that were already there and doing great music like Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and yes, even Poison.

One of the local classic rock stations (WPLR - New Haven, CT) still plays this on occasion.

Definitely a departure from the hard rock sound we were accustomed to from GNR. Not very many songs do you hear have any whistling.

Good song. Reminds me of the summer of '89.

This song was OK. I hated it when it came out, though. The whistling part at the beginning always stuck in my mind, which drove me nuts. After a few listens, I began to like it a little better.

I'm not into much now as I was when it first came out in 1989.

I still spin this one a lot... my PC is showing I've given it 129 spins this year so far... Carrie Underwood does a nice cover of this in concert too...

I love GNR, but I think they've had better than this.

One thing that always sticks out about this song is that when we had Scott Shannon's "Pirate Radio" 100.3 FM (KQLZ) out here in '89, the song was always VERY sped up when they played it... drove me crazy since it always sounded "funny" when I'd play it on my CD player or my turntable at normal speed...

Not sure if this or "Sweet Child O' Mine" is my favorite GnR song. Both great.
