I didn't realize there were 2 hit versions of this. I'm guessing the chorus is different, the one I'm familiar with has a choir almost in the chorus.
I saw them play at the Ritz in NYC many many moons ago. They were just breaking with "Lies" or "Love By Your Side."

the one I'm familiar with has a choir almost in the chorus. ...and the UK version doesn't have the "choir", it's just the group themselves that sing the chorus. Also the UK version is missing that guitar bridge that makes it sooo impressionable. Nile Rogers remixed it. The song was released in the UK a year before it was released here in the USA.

"Lay Your Hands On Me" is my favorite song from The Thompson Twins. It gets played every once in awhile on AT20.

There are actually 2 American-released versions of "Lay Your Hands on Me".
The album version (I think) has a longer beginning, and a different-sounding guitar bridge - almost sounds like a re-mix.
This is also my favorite Thompson Twins song, but "Hold Me Now" comes in a close 2nd.

Good song but I think it loses to "We Are Detective" for my favorite of theirs. They had a lot of good songs, though.

This is far and away my favorite from them, and is one of the best songs of 1985 IMO.
