One of many great songs by H&O, but this was their best ever IMO. "Out of Touch was #1 on the pop chart in late 1984; and the re-mix became a #1 dance hit. Normally, I don't get much into re-mixes of popular songs because they tend to subtract from the quality of the original; but the re-mix versions of "Out of Touch" actually enhanced the quality of the song. One of the re-mixes is the video for "Out of Touch" www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlTtYlg-21I

I'm a fan, and earned a greater like for this song while playing the crap out of "GTA: Vice City".

I always liked this song. I believe it was their last number 1 hit. So sad! I miss them being on the chart.

I always liked this song. I believe it was their last number 1 hit. So sad! I miss them being on the chart. That's correct, but they had a few more hits after this one. They remain the most successful duo in music history.

Thumbs up from me, I was a big fan of them as a kid. I'll still randomly start singing Method of Modern Love, just because of the way they sang/spelt M-E-T-H-O-D O-F L-O-V-E

My favorite along with Maneater. Hearing this on GTA Vice City was fun to hear.

I burned out on this song badly when it was on the radio. Way too overplayed. Definitely way down on the list of my faves by them, but still, it takes me back.

Released in 1984 to lead off their album Big Bam Boom. Went to #1 on the Hot 100.
By far my favorite of their songs. I'd even put it on my personal list of the top 10 best songs of the '80s. I just LOVE it! The synth hook slays.

This is still my favorite of their singles, particularly in the single mix which added extra percussion.

So good. Probably my favorite of their singles. One of my favorite 12" mixes along with Wham's "Everything She Wants."

One of my all-time favorites from Hall & Oates and is my favorite track from their 1984/1985 period. I first heard this song playing "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" (the song is featured in the Flash FM pop station).

Is it just me, or do the lyrics to this song make absolutely zero sense? Not that I care, because when you've got a hook this strong, the lyrics are effectively irrelevant. BTW, here's a cool remix I discovered recently.

Is it just me, or do the lyrics to this song make absolutely zero sense? Some of the verse lines are a bit abstract or something, but if you really analyze them I think they do make sense with the general theme of a partner being disconnected and the relationship being off. It's interesting to me, too, because while I do think this is about a relationship, Hall & Oates often wrote about other things but framed their songs as being about relationships ("I Can't Go For That" and "Maneater" are about the record industry, if I remember right). Since "Out of Touch" was their last #1 and more so that album was their last real big one, you can sort of read this song as being about them worrying about their place in the industry running out of time.
