This was from the third solo album released by the member of EWF. It was definitely not like typical EWF material and was more of a Phil Collins style track.
This is definitely my favorite track Phil Collins ever was involved with. It's just really catchy and it's amazing what an odd combination they were, yet it worked so well.
The Billboard Hot 100: #2 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks: #3 Mainstream Rock Tracks: #5 Adult Contemporary: #15
How often do singles make the Top 5 at both Hot R&B/Hip-Hop and Rock?

This song's pretty good, but there are other Phil Collins songs I liked better.

Love that song from the very beginning. There's no question that two performers from two different groups team up and make a hit. But it did and instantly became one of my favorite songs that ever came out of Philip Bailey CD, "Walking On A Chinese Wall." There are other songs that Philip did on his own before EL. Do you remember a song that came out in 1983 called I Know (not to be confused with the Dionne Farris 1995 arrangement)?

It's not Phil Collins f/ Phillip Bailey? Or Phil Collins & Phillip Bailey? The reason I ask is because the song is on Phil's Greatest Hits CD, and if it is not his song, then why would it be on there?
Anyways, I love the song! Great beat and lots of energy.

It was on Philip Bailey's album and featured vocals from Phil Collins. Why would that mean that it can't be on Phil Collins's greatest hits compilation?

This song came out around my Phil Coliins and Philip Bailey sold out rants so predictably I didn't like it. If I hear it in a store now, it's alright I guess.

Excellent song. I love the drum track and the flow of the track. It's amazing that this song was top-5 R&B and top-5 rock because many songs couldn't pull that off! Phil Collins and Phillip Bailey go back and forth with each other throughout the song and it works really well.

This was a fairly good song but there were some other Phil Collins songs I liked better: "Against All Odds," "Another Day In Paradise," "I Wish It Would Rain Down." I'm not that familiar with Bailey's solo work.

One of my favorites by him. The others being "One More Night" and "Land of Confusion" (I know, Genesis).

Earth Wind and Fire is my favorite group, so I like most of Phillip's solo stuff as well (including his Gospel work). I'm not a huge Phil Collins fan, but I like the two of them together on this song. I thought it was overplayed when it first came out, but I love it now. The whole CHINESE WALL album is great. "Children Of The Ghetto" is my favorite from that album.

This actually feels like a guilty pleasure to me, despite it being a fairly big hit way back when.

I should hate this because it feels like cheese. But it's definitely a guilty pleasure.
It helps that both Bailey and Collins are professionals with solid voices.
I'll take this over Collins's other duets.

This was blocked from #1 for 2 weeks by “I Want to Know What Love Is” by Foreigner. Wish it could’ve snuck a week in. Philip Bailey only had one other solo single to chart on the Hot 100. “Walking on the Chinese Wall” stalled at #46 and stayed on the chart for a total of 12 weeks.

LOL their reaction when the song starts. "Why he starting like that!!!" "He bust my eardrums".
"Why he always give you the death stare, he always serious in his picture".

Love this. One of my favorites from Phil Collins, even though he's the featured artist in this song.

This was such an unpredictable but yet brilliant meshing. One of the decade's best duets. Love, love, love it!
