This was the song Alicia Keys wrote and produced on "Stripped". I've always enjoyed this song. I think it would've done well on radio - well, all of the "Stripped" songs would've done well, IMO. If this were to have been released on Pop...I think it would have peaked at #4.

I've said this a million times: this was the one thing Alicia Keys ever did that I think is shameful. She blatantly threw pieces of Aretha's "Daydreamin'," "You Make Me Feel Like A Natural Woman," and "Ain't No Way" into a blender and pulled this one out her ass. Then again, she ripped off Mariah Carey's "Vanshing" for "Lovin' U".

well i liked it...good job alicia! I second that. This song was brilliant and one of the best on the album. It should have been a single and I think it could have had similar success to "if i aint got u." I think i'll go listen to this now. What a powerful song! I wish Alicia would write for more artists. I think Mariah could have used a few pointers.

wow. nice. first, there's kelly's JMTT and now christina's Impossible on the non-singles folder. it must be my week!
this is my fave from stripped (next to 'beautiful') and i also saw a vid of this (a live version) ripped from mtv asia. this would have done decently, i think; although i doubth that it would have reached #1 just like 'beautiful' did. this would have been a better single choice than 'voice within' tho.

Amazing song - amazing vocals. I don't expect anything less from Ms. Aguilera.

This song was one of the worst on the entire Stripped cd. I expected more from Christina and Alicia.

It's alright, but probably one of my least favorites on the album.
The only song I strongly felt should have been released that wasn't is "Walk Away."

Wasn't a big fan. Christina as soulful songstress just didn't sound convincing to me.

Judging from the reactions in this thread alone, I think this would have been one of those songs that you either hated or you loved. Hmm.
Thinking back, this really should have been released as a single. The singles were all pretty different from one another. They showed that Christina had more than just one side - she could do a ballad, she could do a rock-ish song, she could do Hip-Hop, and then this would've been R&B. Not too shabby. :)

A good song, but not one of my favourites from her. Still, nice to see her showing some soul!

I remember the MTV Documentary that aired during the "Stripped" Era and it contained the studio session for this song. I loved it ever since but it's far from my favorite on the album.

My favorite from Stripped. I thought this would’ve been a good single. It still sounds like a hit.

Surprised that there's not much for love this track. Always thought this was a very good soulful track. It's like a precursor to "Back To Basics".

This is cute, but it's literally just Christina doing a "cover" of an Alicia song.

This was one of my favorites off of “Stripped”. Yes it was clearly influenced by “Ain’t No Way and Natural Woman” by Aretha and maybe that made it feel familiar after one listen. I loved it though and still do.
