This is my favorite from her debut.
It was the second single and was a hit on the dance charts. It paved way for the "Holiday" breakthrough.

This and "Everybody" are my least favorite songs from her in the 80's.

I love this song... just wondering, was this her first video? (I don't remember ever seeing one for "Everybody".)

It didn't get much play. On some shows where they have referred back to Madonna's early days, they have shown clips from that video.

I have an interview from 1984 where Madonna says, "When I did my first video to Borderline...."
duh5 and Hollyweird, you guys might know what I'm talking about. Why did she say that if it's not her first video?
And back on topic - I LOVE this song!

Maybe she had already disowned her pre-breakthrough videos at that point (I've seen "Burning Up" a few times, and it's pretty cheesy). Or maybe it's because "Borderline" was her first radio hit to have a video.

Or maybe it's because "Borderline" was her first radio hit to have a video. That's probably what she meant. Burning Up however, was the first video to have airtime on MTV. It was a minor hit there.

I certainly like it, it's believe it or not one of my Gold songs on my playlist. The extended version is definately off the hook!

No doubt about that. Burning Up was indeed THE HEATA of its day. 80's Madonna is WAY WAY better than the crap she has out now.

This is such a great song. I'm really surprised that it wasn't a big radio hit!

80's MAdonna may have been commerical but 90's MAdonna wasn't affraid to experiment. Both Erotica and BTS were amazzing experiments!

Yep... "Everybody" was her first, and this (backed with "Physical Attraction") was her second. Both songs peaked at #3 on Billboard's Dance/Disco chart.

Easily one of her best ever. The melody in the chorus is so addictive!
