There weren't many good songs from the 80's but this is one of the few that does stand out. Probably in my top 3 of best 80's songs.

As far as this genre of music goes, there were very few good songs. I like this one though.

#6 on my all-time chart! I love this song, the movie, and the 80's in general. Reminds me of growing up. Also, this song has for some reason, become the song of my semester. It seem that everywhere I go, this song is playing, and my friends have even commented. I went to a Matchbox 20 concert in Morgantown and in the middle, they busted into a cover of this which was amazing!

This was a pretty good song. I thought it was great when first released, but got absolutely sick of it by the time it's chart run was complete. For years I hated it, but it's been a long time now and I suppose I might like to hear it again.

Great Song by a band that could have and should have done better in general. This song edges out Alive and Kicking, but barely.

I was just thinking about this song this morning! It's a great song and an 80s classic. I especially like the drum riff before Jim Kerr's "la la la la" lines toward the end.

I too really like this song. Man I wish I could've heard Matchbox Twenty cover this song. I am sure it was awesome. This is one of my favorite songs of the 80's. But there are alot of songs I like from the 80's.

The 80s had lots of good stuff IMHO. You just had to dig deeper to find it since they sifted crap like Phil Collins and Lionel Richie and omitted the better stuff. But this was certainly a classic 80s pop song from a band that really did deserve to be more popular than they were. Bryan Ferry from Roxy Music was offered this song but passed on it.

Another 80s classic that I love. I also like the version of this that was played in the ending credits for Not Another Teen Movie.

This may be my favorite 80's song, and one of my all-time favorites, but it's hard to rank 80's songs with 90's & 2000's songs. Absolute classic, I still hear it quite often and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm still hearing it 20 years from now, definitely has staying power.

Without a doubt this is my absolute favorite. It's also the first song I played when I first got into radio. The movie was also awesome. Don't you just love the 80s?

This is one of my favorite songs ever, it was pretty much their breakthrough hit here in the United States. It hit #1 in 1985. :o

Great song. They had better but this one is still a classic.
I believe they're touring again soon before their new album.

One of the best songs of the 1980's. I just love this song. Probably Top 10 in my favorite songs ever.

Almost every song form the 80's is better than anything else. Some of these 80s artists are still making music better than anyone else too. Simple Minds was incredible band. From "Promised You A Miracle" to last year's "Human" and everything in between. John Hughes knew how to compile a great movie soundtrack too.

Oh wow I never posted this thread all this time? Anyways an all time favorite of mine. I still have around the CD compilation called "Everything 80's" somewhere and this was one of the songs on it.

One of the greatest 80s pop songs of all-time. I was in diapers when "The Breakfast Club" came out and as a result, I heard this as an 80s gold title on 101.9 the Mix (usually during their 80s at 8pm hour), Q101 (during their 80s lunchtime hour), 100.3, and defunct 103.1 WXXY (the 80s channel) when I was younger. Still sounds great today.
