...In A Small Town.
This has got to be my favorite radio song from Pearl Jam...and it was never even a single. (Eddie Vedder allowed no single releases or videos for any track off the Vs. album)
However, radio stations grabbed some of the tracks anyway ("D aughter", which went #1 on Alternative) "Animal", "D issident" and this poetic acoustic.
I'd probably rank this my #1 Pearl Jam song, with "D aughter", "Even Flow" and "Corduroy" also high up.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Well, eventually import singles from their early albums had domestic singles, and I bet that he at least allowed radio songs... but that didn't stop the album from almost selling 1 million copies in its opening week. I don't really see how PJ were ever accessible enough for that many sellers on Ten either, but I guess you don't always know.
"Go" was a first release, which peaked in its first week on Billboard's Modern Rock chart, and then "Daughter" reached pole position and even went top 30 on pop, followed by this, a top 20 hit on modern rock/alternative.
I like it, but the live version is even better than this. Actually, I don't know why, since they do sound a lot alike, but I prefer the live version for some reason. As for the original, it's okay, but not my favorite. I personally thought Vs. was way overrated. A lot of their newer songs went way overlooked.

I don't consider "Vs" overrated, as I find it to be their strongest album, but I do agree with you completely all their newer material deserves more appreciation. Pearl Jam have been a very consistent band, while also evolving their sound in a huge way, from harder, post-grunge to psychedelic lounge-style acoustics. "Yield" was an incredible album in particular. "Wishlist" should have been a much huger hit than it really was, and "I Am Mine" and "Love Boat Captain" should have been mainstream favorites. I've never understood Pearl Jam to be a grunge group, as I see no real resemblance between Eddie Vedder and Kurt Cobain except they both had tortured hearts reverberating through their lyrics, though the source of the ache also is quite different. Sincerely, Noah Eaton

"D aughter", "D issident" "D aughter", Noah, to prevent the D's from being Grin Smilies, you make a space after the quotes, not the D. Or you could just check the "Disable Smilies" box.

or,
"Dissident" (the will be invisible once you post it.)
Anyway though, I had no idea that the band went out of their way not to release anything from the album! Sounds like they were trying to pull a Beatles' Sgt. Pepper. I also had no idea that they had so much of a fan base that they'd be able to pull that off. Seriously, where'd all those fans go?
I've always preferred Ten over Vs., although both have their strong singles and strong album tracks.
