Crap, much like everything else Britney Spears lipsyncs. Wow, this thread made me realize just how long that girl has been around for. When that song came out I predicted that everyone would be saying "Britney Who" in about 4 years. Guess my prediction (and wish) didn't come true. :'( >:(

I used to like it alot, too.
Really catchy even though the hook is a bit depressing, to me.
I remember the video came out in like August of 2000

This one was very good. I'm glad she has the guts to release it with very cheesy lyrics it had. Uh, instead of she, do you mean Jive Records and their blind flying? I wasn't impressed with this one, but I came around on it after it was on the Now 5 compilation. And speaking of Now compilations, if there wasn't so much censored hip hop on them, they'd actually be worth buying still...well, maybe...

At the time I liked this song seeing it topped my chart for a few weeks in 2000. But now I can't stand the song anymore. I wouldn't say killed her career on radio if anything it was Don't Let Be The Last To Know which was her first song to not even chart on Billboard.

It's so cheesy you gotta love it. I am not saying it is her best song but it is pretty good. In fact I am listening to it right now because I saw this topic ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0270.gif)

Come to think of it, Jive Records was really smart in setting Britney up for her sexy makeover. This was literally the last chance to see her girl-next-door look. Later that year, we saw her famous stripping performance on the MTV Video Music Awards, quickly followed by ''Stronger'', her sexiest music video IMO.

So so cheesy. The song that killed her career at radio. Exactly. Had they gone straight to "Stronger", I think she'd have had much more success, even with the other stupid single choices they've made for her.

Lucky reached #23 in 2000...you might say that she was "unlucky" with this release

This is a great song! Sure, it was cheesy, but it was cheesy done right. It's undeniably catchy. As a thirteen year old or so, I didn't really think of it that way anyway. I thought it was about Britney's life.

It was ok and all but very crappy compared to her other singles.

![](http://proboards8.com/boardimages/thumbdown.gif) ![](http://proboards8.com/boardimages/thumbdown.gif) Two thumbs down for "Lucky"! Cheesiest song. The reporter sounds effects dont help either. I think it was total crap how she said the song wasn't about her. Why did you even bother making this thread? The thumbs down icon you used made me LOL. I remember being so happy when this was the second single instead of DLMBTLTK. I really think she could've released two fast songs in a row though and released Stronger second. :(

I love this. I don't care lol. "Stronger" probably should have been second looking back on it though.

Quite frankly one of the worst songs I've ever heard. I have no idea what Jive was thinking, and I still think this song is the reason she's had such limited success at radio up until now. Lucky f**king ruined her career basically.

Lucky f**king ruined her career basically. Haha! My overdramatic posts from 2004. That being said, I still think this song is horrific, easily her worst single and a boneheaded move given that there were way bigger songs left on that album. And after this was released, she didn't get another top 10 for four years, I'm just sayin. It has become one of those songs that people stan over because it's so bad it's good in a cheesy nostalgic kind of way though. So it's done it's job in the long run I guess.

Britney fans also look upon this fondly because they view at as some sort of early evidence of her pathos and artistic credibility/aspiration.

Cheesy as all hell, but I enjoy it. Nowhere as good as Baby One More Time, Oops I Did It Again or Toxic, but still a fun little tune.

All I can think about is the image of her lipping the L of lucky in the video. Her tongue, man.
This was cute in a certain golden-era-of-TRL type of way, but Stronger is the only song I really use/d from this album.

I don't think this was relatable for Britney at the time, but the way her life progressed since then, it certainly makes it possible to reflect on the song in a different light. I always thought this was alright. I like the video, and we got a great Jason Nevins remix out of the deal (and the is-it-or-isn't-it-official Junior Vasquez mix).

Lol sure this was cheesy as hell but dammit if it doesn't define nostalgia for me. I remember being a little kid and singing to it. It's still one of the Britney songs I've kept in my library (and they aren't too many).
