We used to have a 70's radio station, which I listened to quite a bit. This Carpenters tune was played on it quite a bit. I grew to like this song quite well. I looked it up in my Billboard Pop Singles book. Imagine my surprise when I saw that the song only peaked at number 35!! Couldn't believe it!
It' such a dirty old shame when all you get from love is a love song. It's got you laying up nights waiting for the music to start.

I have The Carpenters' greatest hits titled "Yesterday Once More" and that's one of the songs on there. I didn't realize it was released as a single, but it's OK.
My favorites (in no particular order) are:
Top of the World Yesterday Once More We've Only Just Begun

I heard this song somewhere recently. I think it was at the grocery store.

This and Touch Me When Were Dancing were the two best Carpenters singles post 1975. The worst of the batch was definitely Goofus

This song was heard on the recent AT40: The 70's rebroadcast of the June 25, 1977 AT40 episode.
