It was originally released on the Broadway soundtrack in 1996. Now almost ten years later, the song looks like it could be the first showtune to debut on the Hot 100 in years. It's #7 on iTunes right now. It's being promoted along with the motion picture version of the show. I'm not big on showtunes, but "Seasons Of Love" is a beautiful song and it's incredible to see it getting this kind of attention. It's one of those songs that transcends tastes and preferences because it's just a great song that everyone can relate to.

#6 on iTunes now, and loving it! The entire cast performed it on The Today Show this morning! :)

Wow, this song is really catchy. That line where they mention the "minutes" gets in my head everytime I hear this. This is getting quite a lot of requests at Srius' Top 40 Hit station. This should get pop adds before it dwindles, no?

I first heard this song being sung by a chorus group at Disney World back in 1999. Being unfamiliar with it, I just assumed it was one of their own songs. It wasn't until a year or so later when I heard "Rent" being advertised on the radio that I made the connection.

Nice number. It stands well even outside the context of the show.

Too bad it could have been a Top 40 hit.
Also: RENT closes on Broadway for good Summer 2008.
