This was the first single from Binaural. Kind of a questionable single choice, but it's really brilliant, so I can't fault them for that. It's a shame it went away so fast (esp. after almost getting #1 with a remake), because apart from the long length, it was pretty much perfect. There's something that I like a lot about it. Maybe Gossard's awesome riffs on the song.
What did you all think?

I never expected Pearl Jam would ever release something so dark after their left field pop success, especially as a single. I love it.

I don't even think I've heard this more than once or twice, and it didn't grab my attention.

Pearl Jam is among the Top 3 bands from the 90's I have the most respect for. They have kept true to their musical identity while also being adventurous, as the soft sounds of "Yield" and the acoustics from "Vs" prove.
I'm so glad they didn't try and duplicate "Jeremy" in the "Vs." era or the cover of "Last Kiss" between the "No Code" and "Yield" eras.
Pearl Jam may not have the high profile they used to possess, but they remain one of the most genuine bands out there.
"Nothing As It Seems" is a great example, returning to their dark roots that made "Ten" a mammoth success, while also not recycling the post-grunge pandimonia and leaving its eerie impression more mysterious in interpreting.
Sincerely, Noah Eaton

Good song but they've had better.
