Of her 80's songs, this is one of my favorites, though I prefer "This Time I Know It's For Real."
This one is a total classic though.

Meh, I never liked this song. "This Time I Know It's For Real" is definitely worlds better, as is most of Summers' other songs.

"Money" is so-so; but her comeback 6 years later was much better. "This Time I Know it's For Real" had a much brighter sound. I think it had to do with the Stock, Aiken, Waterman team producing it. They had a lot of good songs in the late '80s.

Why isnt Donna thought of in the same way as other 7o's and 80s divas? What happened? She had a ton of hits.

Donna is a living legend. PREACH! And she got better with time! Her voice is still PERFECT and she can deliver IMO even better than she used when she was younger. I LOVE 'She works hard for the money', specially when done live. It ranks just below 'On the Radio' on my fav Donna Summer tracks

Love this song. I saw the video just the other day on a video channel called Retro Jams.

I remember a funny moment from The Simpsons that involved this song.

Donna is a living legend. Definitely. I like this, but this is a flash in the pan for me from her overall material (and even if we just want to only count her 80s stuff).

This is one of her best 80s songs. The music video is notable for being the first video by an African-American female to be placed in heavy rotation by MTV.
"She Works Hard For The Money" spent 3 weeks at #1 on the Hot Black Singles chart in the summer of 1983.

The title came to Donna when she was at a glitzy party and went to the bathroom where she found the attendant asleep at her post. She thought, "She works hard for the money," and then realized it would make a great song title.

In terms of songs that I enjoy the most, this is not among my favorites... but I do have high regards for it in terms of lyrics, video and sound (use of rock-like guitars), and for being yet another song that showed Donna's versatility and ability to adapt from Disco to Pop in the 80s. Oh! and Donna IS a LEGEND!! To me, one of the best female artists EVER

I like this one- always reminds me of my mom and my one sister. Mu mom used to say my sister worked hard for the money (like Donna in the video) when she was a waitress back in the day.

I like it. It's not one of her better songs IMO, but it's definitely one of her classics. Kinda undeniable on that front.

I though this song was cheesy when I was younger. I always prefer her 70s disco hits and her 1989 hit "This Time I Know It's for Real" over this one. However, this song has grown on me in recent years and I do appreciate it more nowadays. can't find the music video so here's the lp version www.youtube.com/watch?v=09ZSKE38lTU
