Once hailed by Brian Eno as the "future of music", this song is among the many highlights of Loveless, an album I consider nearly peerless in its genre. Garbage and Curve definitely constructed several of their tracks on this song's premise. When MBV pair their tremendous wall-of-guitar assault with inventive percussive loops, their music takes on an immaculate drive and focus, and in that capacity, they are unparalleled. "Only Shallow" works a similar, more punishing magic.

Despite the length, Soon is the album at its most accessible. Even its baggy leanings work well in '91.
A stand alone album worthy of endless, full listens.

This is officially one of my favorite songs, for ever and ever!
And let me make this thread even more glorious by presenting the full-length version of the song. Almost seven minutes of pure heavenly sonics! It's no wonder Simon Reynolds tried, at first, to coin shoegaze with the term "bliss rock". Because this is what bliss might actually sound like, as far as I'm concerned.
Also, the almost-as-iconic Andrew Weatherall remix.

Probably my favorite song on that album, with some dance-rock inflections in the mix as well.
