I know Bush catches a lot of flak for imitating grunge bands from the early 1990s. But, even if that's true, they had quite a few killer records back in the day. This might be my favorite by them (right ahead of "The Chemicals Between Us"). Gavin Rossdale nails this song vocally and the lyrics are pretty solid. Modern rock was so great in the 1990s. This band was one reason for that... Here's the video.

I like it. This, "Machinehead", "Comedown" and "Swallowed" are my favorite Bush songs. I didn't really pay much attention to them after Razorblade Suitcase.

^heh. Glycerine is great. However, "Comedown" would probably be played on the early adolescent volume of soundtrack to my life (along with the rest of the overplayed pop-alternative...dishwalla, when i come around, barely breathing...)

I was thinking about this song the other day! Why, I don't know. But this was one of my favorite songs from 1996. Before this, I didn't even like Bush. I became a lukewarm fan after this came out.

I at first hated this, for the stupid reason that is kids at school who didn't like were Bush fans. I eventually learned to tolerate it and pulled for it once it hit the pop chart, and then liked it enough to record it when Gavin performed it on SNL.
Bush is one of the most overplayed bands on the radio today, though, and I'm sick of this song. If you're going to play Bush so often, you might as well play 'em all. "Headful Of Ghosts", "Speed Kills", "Letting The Cables Sleep", "Warm Machine", "Greedy Fly", "Cold Contagious"...Where are they. And play the Institute too; it's the same guy! I can't stress enough how much of a pet peeve it is when radio takes these core artists like Bush and places a concentrated amount of spins on some of their hits for all of eternity, and none for all the rest.

This is one of those songs you can pick up right away when learning to play the guitar, like remembering the first time you learned how to do a power-chord. Good times. The lyrics are gringeworthy as always though. Bush, making the most nonsensical of lyrics rock like ZEN! ZEN! ZEN!

Glycerine got to #26 on the Hot 100 in 1996 I think that's where it peaked in R&R as well.

This was Bush's only Top 40 hit. "Machinehead" nor "The Chemicals Between Us" didn't make a dent in the R&R Top 40.

My dad died unexpectedly a few years ago, and today would be his birthday. For some reason "Glycerine" is the song I am feeling today, I guess mostly for this part: "Don't let the days go by Could have been easier on you I couldn't change though I wanted to" That part encapsulates how I feel about being a bratty teen toward my parents and how I wish I could have been closer to my dad.
