Do you remember New Order's "Bizarre Love Triangle"? It failed to make the Top 40 in 1987 and 1995.

One of the best, how the hell did it not chart? I think I vaguely remember somewhere that they had only a limited amount of copies which sold out when it was first released and they couldn't print any more copies right away for some reason..? I'm not sure if I got that 100% correct though.

This is one of my favorite songs from them. Everything about it is absolutely brilliant. The local stations tended to play the Extended Dance Mix instead of the album version or the single version.
I had quite a hard time finding the Extended Dance Mix from the 12" (that was before I got into DJing and had turntables) and Substance was unavailable at a reasonable price. Then one day I found a CD maxi reissue with it on it. :)

Brilliant song. Encapsulates its era like few songs do.

One of those great examples of a single remix elevating the original.

Lyrics have never been New Order's strength, in my humble opinion, but this is a rare exception in which every element of the song is perfectly executed. And yes, as far as I'm concerned, the Shep Pettibone 12" is the definitive version.

I haven't figured out which New Order song that I liked the best: this one or "True Faith". I heard both of them alot on the radio as a kid, especially on B96 as 80s gold titles. I also heard "Bizarre Love Triangle" on 101.9 The Mix, defunct 80s channel 103.1 WXXY, and Q101 during their 80s lunch time retro hour. Considering that I heard "Bizarre Love Triangle" often, I had assumed it was a pop hit when it first came out. It did chart the dance/club chart and the alternative/modern rock chart but not the Hot 100/pop chart???????? This is one of the greatest 80s songs of all-time! Still a favorite of mine to this day! album version www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKVbB_qZQcUextended dance remix www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dj3p9CI9QGE
