Isn't this a grand song? It's definately their best or one of their best that they've released. I loved it from the very first listen back in 1998. It entered my Top 30 chart (when it was a top 30) at #3 (where it peaked) but it probably shoulda went to #1! The tape contained the lyrics to only this song.

It's not their best or one of their best for me. It was really overplayed on country radio.

I didn't hear this until about 2000, but I liked it.

I was so anti-Dixie Chicks when they first came out. but I have grown alot since them. This is by far my favorite by them but it is memorable none the less

The title of the song inspired many dirty jokes amongst me and my friends.

I love this song! Great lyrics. I liked it when a talented girl sung it on Jenny Jones or something.

One of the few songs I don't find unbearably annoying from them

Wide Open Spaces reached #81 on the Hot 100 in 1998 but would have been higher if the current format of the chart had been in placed a few weeks earlier

A song that gets overplayed is not a bad song...that doesnΒ΄t even make sense, anyway this is one of their best singles I would say in the top five...was their breakthrough single and the one that really made their album sell a lot...I like the video quite a lot since it shows their personalities and Martie looks really beautiful ha ha!

I rememeber back in 1998 when I got their cassette for the album and the first time I heard this song, I knew it would be a hit. This was when 'There's Your Trouble' was new. Sure enough, later in the year it was. It's a beautiful song! The Dixie Chicks had it goin' on!

I think this is definitely their signature song. It's catchy and has such amazing harmonies!

This is the song that introduced me to the Chicks. I was really intrigued since I never heard a melody/vocal like that before. Very fun song.

Wow! You must really hate her! Nope... just stating fact... she KILLED the group... read her comments... she hates Country music and the very fans that made her and her 2 bandmates famous... I've heard of career suicide before, but she's taken it to a new level... Only this song and 1 other song of theirs got more than 38 spins among ALL of the monitored country stations... in the entire US, their combined hits barely got 500 spins last week... that's not many... people are STILL turned off by her and until she attempts to find some semblence of common sense, the fans will just keep leaving... too bad, because at one time, they were probably the hottest thing in Country music next to Shania...

I wouldn't call it career suicide if you still have the potential to sell millions and I bet their new CD will enter Billboard in the Top 3 and go platinum or double by years end. And I'm a fan and I haven't turned around.

And I'm a fan and I haven't turned around. Their potential to sell miilions of records is long gone... look at how few spins their songs get on the radio today... it's not to difficult to enter the Billboard top 3 in today's day and age, so that may happen, but it ain't staying in the top 10 more than a week or two... They turned their back on you and the rest and you still remain loyal... I guess then if your significant other cheated on you, then you wouldn't care, correct???

How did they turn their backs on you? By saying that they hate Country music and what all country music fans like me stand for.

I think they can still sell a few million copies. There's no point in arguing this as it's a wait and see scenario so we're just going to wait and see.
They didn't turn their back on me. If I were from Texas, I'd be inclined to agree with them. And this has nothing to do with being cheated on by my significant other. If you feel that way, that's too bad. I'm sorry you were cheated on but I like the Dixie Chicks so that's the end of the story. Good night!

I don't remember them saying they "hated country music"? Hmm... Yeah, their country fans should be offended but they hated it? And didn't you say last month that you WEREN'T a country music fan?

I liked this song as well... By saying that they hate Country music and what all country music fans like me stand for. Are you sure they said they hate country music? I can't see why they would since their music falls squarely in that genre. Most of their success has been on the country chart, so they didn't abandon the format for crossover success (except for one song). What does country music and all country music fans stand for? ???
