The last Top 40 hit for Eurythmics.
This song got a lot of airplay on my local Top 40 station in late 1989. But in never hit the R&R CHR chart. It spent one week in the Billboard Top 40 portion of the Hot 100.

The song never appeared on R&R, but it peaked at around number 32 in Gavin (which was based on airplay, like R&R, but many small market stations were reporters, so that may have had something to do with it). I thought the song was OK, but it was sort of bland.

Meh, it was okay.
I remember the week it debuted on AT40 (its only week in the top 40), Shadoe mentioned that Billy Joel had charted with a different song with the same title (which I like a lot more).

This was Eurythmics already on the decline, both comercially and creatively. And the thing is - to me, of course - both Annie Lennox's and Dave Stewart's post-Eurythmics - and pre-brief reunion - material never did very much for me.

This is another example of a song with a weird chart move. It moved 47-40, and I believe that was without a bullet. Seeing that this was around the same time that "Licence To Chill" moved 38-32 with no bullet, it looks like that area of the chart was pretty liberal during those few weeks.

Yes, I remember this song. I really liked it. One of their better songs. I thought it should've charted higher.

Great song! I have the single.
"Miracle of miracles. Look what the night dragged in. It's a pocket full of misery, trouble on the wind..."

He also mentioned that their last Top 40 hit was "Missionary Man" in 1986. Maybe that was in the outro. Anyway, I enjoy this song very much. The instruments they use remind me a lot of "Here Comes The Rain Again."

I only heard it a couple of times. One of those times was on American Top 40 when it spent its only week on the countdown at #40. If I'd heard it anymore, I could've given it a more fair evaluation.

I love this. The lyrics are great. My favourite is:
"You spoiled the best years of your life You took them all in vain Now you think that you're forgiven But you can't be born again
And you say Why? Why? Why? Don't ask me why..."

Too bad Eurythmics "The King and Queen of America" didn't make Billboard's Hot 100 chart in the USA despite the music video played on MTV at the same time of Eurythmics' "Don't Ask Me Why".

Excellent song. Heard it again recently after not having done so for a long time. I'd forgotten how much I liked it.

I miss them. I still play Sweet Dreams every once in a while. And this song is very good.

This is decent. I definitely prefer their earlier material though.
