Who remembers the 1981-1982 Hooked on chart hits: "Hooked on Classics" by the Royal Philmarmic Orchestra and "Hooked on Swing" by Larry Elgart. When these songs made the Billboard Hot 100 Top 40, for a week for each Casey Kasem mentioned during the playing of the instrumentals the names of the classic orchestra tunes for "Hooked on Classics" and the names of the swing songs for "Hooked on Swing".
K-Tel still makes today Hooked on music CD's, most recently mixes of 1960's/1970's/1980's songs but not the original artist recordings!

I used to have to play this when I was a dj and I hated it! There've been a few good pop/rock adaptations of classical music over the years, but in my opinion this isn't one of them.
My favorite from this catagory - and I think I started a thread about it a few months ago - is Deodato's Also Sprach Zarathustra.

Hooked On Classics reached #10 and Hooked On Swing at #31. i am not a fan of classical music since i find it quite boring but with the disco beat i somewhat enjoyed it. swing is a little better and with a disco beat i somewhat liked that medley as well.
