Do you remember the late 1979-early 1980 disco/dance song by Dan Hartman called "Vertigo/Relight My Fire"? Reached #1 on Billboard's Disco chart but only bubbled under the Hot 100 at #102 or #103.

Two different songs. Back when entire albums used to be able to share positions on club play.
"Relight My Fire" is a classic. One of the top dance songs of all time.

I know Ricky Martin planned a remake of "Relight My Fire" a few years back but never went for adds.

Relight My Fire is ALL about Loletta Holloway's SCREAMING bit
"AAAAAAAAARRRRRGH! Ya gotta be STRONG ENOUGH to WALK ON through the night!"
It was remade, passably, by Take That and Lulu, but nothing beats the original.

I love this! It's got everything. Great vocals. Great lyrics. Great production. And it's danceable. :) I love long "Vertigo/Relight My Fire" version that appeared on the 12" single. I know Ricky Martin planned a remake of "Relight My Fire" a few years back but never went for adds. It was given a limited release on a 12" promo single in the Netherlands. I don't think it was released on any of Ricky's albums and stuff. I heard it last year for the first time. I was expecting it to be horrendous. It wasn't that bad. It's not great, but it's decent for a remake. I heard a remix of it by Hex Hector & Mac Quayle. Hex & Mac recreated the production from the original, but made it fresh at the same time. The Loleatta Holloway vocals were used too. It was remade, passably, by Take That and Lulu, but nothing beats the original. I heard that one last year for the first time too. I thought they did a so-so job. I prefer the Element Remix that was released back in 2005. The only good 'remake' I have heard was done by Almighty of the Dan/Loleatta one. They basically recreated the original production and modernized it just a little. They didn't do anything to the vocals in terms of effects. It's a freshened up version of the original. The long version of their mix even includes the "Vertigo" intro part from the 12" single. I feel that they usually make messes out of such songs when they do remakes, but this was probably one of the few they did very well.
