Do you remember the 1980 song "Answering Machine" by Rupert Holmes which was the last of 3 Top 40 hits for Rupert himself? The funniest line in the song is "Last night I bought some dog food for the cat".

Barry Scott played that on the Lost 45s last Sunday night. His theme was telephone songs, so he played that and he also played 5705. Telephone Man, and a few others. The only way I know that song is through the Lost 45s

I remember this very well. I was 12 when this came out in 1980, and it was one of my favorite songs of that year.
Rupert Holmes's songs were unique - not the same old love/break-up stuff you normally hear. His songs were much more in-depth and creative.

Ooh new technology in the title of a Top 40 hit.
I wonder if someday we'll look back at "Text Me In The Morning" and think of that as a really dated thing to say.
