aka 'Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)'
I actually liked this, kinda boring at first, then Mariah just starts belting out at the end lol. The lyrics were pretty good. I think this was her last single with Sony.

I didn't like the original version of this. The Morales Radio Mix was just amazing!

I remember when this was FIRST released (internet wasn't very accessible back then with ripping etc..) Anways, Z100 FIRST premiered it. And then an audio file was created that kept saying Z100 throughout the song.
Those were the days, those were the memories

This is one of my favorite Mariah tracks. I love the "humming" or whatever you want to call it after the first verse.
The Morales Club Mix is amazing too. I remember I used to have the version with the WKTU intro, but I lost it. I like it more than the original for some reason, haha.

It's okay, but far from her best.

With Diane Warren on board, it would seem like a surefire hit, but this was not the best. Was the B-side to this single the non-album track "There For Me," because that was a much better ballad imo.

The Morales Club Mix made me appreciate this song.
Favorite lyrics: Although they do try, Hard to make me feel that I, Don't matter at all But I refuse to falter In what I believe or lose faith in my dreams, 'Cause there's a light in me, That shines brightly.
Totally copy and pasted that bit right there lol. But similarly to the remix, I put a lot of emphasis on "Although they do try, Hard to make me feel that I, Don't matter at all." What may have seemed like yet another sappy track that presents an "easier said than done" approach to overcoming the obstacles in life all of a sudden really took on a new form and applied itself to my life. I've never cared for the original. The lyrics were a total "Hero" redux, and like most of her songs produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, the production is weak.
However, the Morales Revival Triumphant Mix is one of my all time favorite club mixes by Mariah. I was thrilled to see her opening her recent Australia shows with it.

Never cared for this one, as it did seem like a retread of "Hero"/"Butterfly." And let's not get into that video.

I don't give a DAMN, I love this and all of it's inspirational cheesiness. I love the bridge and the climax of the song. Give me this over "Hero" and "One Sweet Day" anyday.
That video though... WOOF.

I have always loved this and don't give a damn most scorn it. I live for the performance in Morocco in 2012 where her voice cracks at one moment after the bridge (I think)... her emotion is just so palpable. The Triumphant remix kicks ass too. Very uplifting song all around.

Very uplifting song all around. I am actually surprised that not many people like this song. It's definitely one of the best from "Rainbow". I remember listening to this during one of my really tough emotional moments in life.

This is terrific. The lyrics are fairly general, but Mariah sings it and makes it feel like a personal testament.

Let's get into this ICONIC performance where Mariah almost falls on her ass while giving us legs, twirls and armography!

I like this better than "Hero" and the pipes from the bridge on....WOWZA! I was so pissed when this stalled at #28.

OK I totally forgot about the Morales remix until now but it's godly. One of her best remix packages!

For awhile this was one of my Top 3 Mariah songs. It’s still up there. I love it. It used to give me chills. I was surprised it didn’t do well. The delusion mini Lamb that I am thought this was definitely going to take off and revive the “Rainbow” era…. I believe the Lambs said it wasn’t promoted much. Maybe it wasn’t to Top 40??? However it got a video, remixes, and a decent amount of live tv performances. I think it was just more people didn’t appreciate this flawless track..

Anyway I think "CTTA" is a really solid ballad, but by 2000 the AC ballad wasn't all that popular. I found this to be an odd choice to be the third single. It didn't even do well at AC radio, though, so I think some of its flopping was about Mariah fatigue.
