Reminds me of Christmas of '89, my senior year of high school. Brings back lots of memories. :)

I loved this song (the single version)... then I bought the CD and was disappointed 'cause it was different (I guess they couldn't clear all of the samples, so some were re-recorded... it just sounded weird).

I never could get into that groove that well until I realized then that these are the songs I played when I was in stage band in college. Isn't this the same tune that made a chipmunk out of Elvis sampling Jailhouse Rock or was it another song by them? I would remember an old colleague I worked with in East Texas would literally play the hell out of that song, because it was something that remind him of his youth (ala 1969!)

Reminds me of the story they did on AT40 about Glenn Miller's plane disappearing. I guess he did the original "In The Mood."
"Come on everybody, cuh, cuh come on everybody."

It was a guilty pleasure of mine years ago. I have the song on cassette. I think I recorded it from AT40.

It's ashame they used an impersonator for Elvis. Otherwise, he would've been the only act to have at least one Top 40 hit in the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and this decade. Even though he wouldn't have gotten label credit, it's still one hell of an accomplishment.

Z95 jumped on this one early, actually started to play it in August or September, 1989. It went to #1 in November (or so), then fell to #10 and was gone the next week. I don't think it ever came back, either (sometimes, if a station is on a song early like that, when it hits the national charts, they'll re-add it)

I heard this at a wedding recently but it was an extended version that I wasn't familiar with.

It's 6:12 long. Maybe that's the extended version and not the radio version heard on AT40.

They had a follow-up to this song which was also a medley of old hits, but I can't remember the name of it. I think it might've been played on "Joel Denver's Future Hits" once.

Same here. I think one guy sang the samples for "Rock-a-Beatin' Boogie", Shake Rattle and Roll", and "At the Hop" on the extended album version. But the single version had the real artists in the samples. That's why I thought the single version was produced much better. After "Swing the Mood" reached its peak, I was hoping the 2nd song on the CD - "Rock and Roll Party Mix" - would be their follow-up single. I liked that better than "That's What I Like".

By the way - as much as I liked the song "Swing the Mood", I thought the video was one of the cheesiest ever produced!

Jive Bunny still makes dance mix albums of various music songs in the UK.

This was a pretty fun song that combined a lot of other songs into one. Still smile when I hear it.
