A big hit in europe and Australia, the only solo hit by the former Baby Spice to have such a worldwide impact. #1 for 2 weeks in the UK, #10(?) in Australia and a hit around Europe too. I always felt this should've been tried in America, the song's that kind of MOR, radio friendly drivetime pop that does well, and this was a really great example of that genre.
The followup 'Take My Breath Away' did OK in the UK (#5 but with a short chart run) but it kinda stalled elsewhere, and I don't think she's that succesful anywhere outside the UK these days.
Still, over here she's the only one of them having significant success these days, having made a succesful comeback this year. Her recent singles 'Maybe' and 'Free Me' are definately worth a listen. Very 60's inspired and different.
Emma Bunton UK chart history:
What I Am: #2 What Took You So Long?: #1 (2 weeks) Take My Breath Away: #5 We're Not Gonna Sleep Tonight: #20 Free Me: #5 Maybe: #6
I think 'Take My Breath away' peaked in the 30's in Australia, i'm sure Sean can confirm.

You're right, it did make #10 in OZ. It's good but I think I even prefer "Maybe" to this one... strange I am

It was OK, but not notable IMO.

I forgot how it goes. I thought it was boring.

Her BEST single. Her recent songs "Free Me" and "Maybe" turn me off. It's a shame she said her earlier singles didn't represent her.
I loved all her sexual titles "What took you so long?," "Take my breath away," and "We're not gonna sleep tonight."
I bought the "What i am" single. She looked good on the cover and I wanted her to beat Geri that week. :(

I actually think there are a fair few decent solo Spice singles. This isn't bad by any means, but I prefer the singles from her second album. "Maybe" is really good.

All five girls had really strong debut solo singles, IDK if I can pick a favourite.

LOVE THIS
Was so happy to see her work with Bryan Adams after his success with When You’re Gone featuring Melanie C. They were pretty much all releasing solo stuff at the time. This was a favorite for sure
