One of the IMHO best singles of the 1990s, and my 3rd favorite song of the decade behind "Show Me" by Howard Hewett and "Kissing You" by Keith Washington, and just a bit ahead of "Just The Way It Is Baby" by Rembrandts, this 1995 track was certainly mysterious lyrically, and sonically was one of alternative rocks best tracks.
Subject matter I thought was about vampires, though I could be mistaken. I think that was beauty of the song, no one really knew. Lead character of the song wants to show his angel his deep dark secret, wants to marry her, and then at climax of song, screams to her, "Do You Wanna Die?" Song works well in tandem with 2 other tracks from Toadies' Rubberneck album, "I Come From The Water" and "Away"
Any other observations, good or bad?

I like it.
Of course I have to comment on your other song mentions though too. Those Howard Hewett and Keith Washington songs are both incredible ballads. The Howard Hewett one isn't my favorite by him though. I'd give that to "I'm For Real" probably or maybe "Once, Twice, Three Times". As far as his self-titled album goes, I probably prefer the third single, "I Can't Tell You Why," over the first two.

I liked this song, though I'm a little burnt out on it now. I never really figured out what this song was about either. I thought it might have been about a stalker or serial killer, though vampire makes sense too.
Oh, by the way, the two other tracks you mentioned were the follow-up singles to "Possum Kingdom".

I love it. I read somewhere that it was the third single from the album. Regardless of what it's about, it's well-done.
"Away" is another great track. I always thought that would have been the follow-up to this, since its chart success was after, but I've also heard "Tyler" on some pretty good alt. stations, which I also enjoy lots.

O-VER-RA-TED
I just don't see why everyone's so head over heels about this song. It's decent, but I'll take Toad The Wet Sprocket over this, though.

It was on an Elektra album I think, of their artists doing other artists songs, and I just knew with his voice he would do a great version of it, but I felt let down I think. The I Commit To Love album is awesome, and yes, "I'm For Real" is a superior track.

Love this song. Bought the album because it's so awesome and was basically disappointed with the rest, but who cares? I still get "Possum Kingdom."
