I could have probably gone with any of her singles, because they are all great. We already did "Just Because" earlier this year though. This is really soulful and has that quiet storm vibe that I love. "Caught Up In The Rapture" was at it's peak in late 1986 and early 1987.
The Billboard Hot 100: #37 Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks: #6
Fun Fact: This is the song that Mary J. Blige sang for the demo that got her signed to Uptown. She recorded it in a shopping mall in NY.

Good song, although I hated it back when it was popular. I love Anita's Rapture album, particularly "Sweet Love" and "Same Ol' Love".

That goes double for me. I LOVE all of her music (thanks to my older half-sister who turned me on to her first album from '83 called "The Songstress"). I used to have her CD back then (until some ingrate took it and never retrieved it back!). In all of what Anita has done, Josh you are right on the money with this one. This is one of my favorites along with Angel, Feel The Need, No More Tears, Sweet Love, Been So Long among others.

This is one of my favorites by her if not the favorite of mine. A great singer!

I liked it too. I just wonder why it never charted on R&R's CHR chart. It must have come very close, since her songs peaked at around the same positions on R&R and Billboard. Unless R&R pulled an "Into The Night".

Unless R&R pulled an "Into The Night". Sweet Love (#8), Caught Up In The Rapture (#37), Giving You The Best That I Got (#3) and Just Because (#14), besides that of urban, charted on both the CHR and AC charts (sorry, don't have AC history on it) in Billboard. I know that R&R charted theirs slightly higher on both charts, although successful on urban.

One of my five favorite artist. Anita Baker is simply LEGENDARY!! A great bottom heavy voice that churned out R&B and AC hits like no other in the late eighties until the mid nineties. "Caught Up in the Rapture" isn't my favorite by Anita, but is still one of those get your groove on songs. I saw her in March in Atlantic City and when she sang this the audience went CRAZY!!
My favorites by Anita are "Angel", "It's Been You", "No One In The World", "Good Love" You Bring Me Joy" and too many more to list!!!
P.S. Anita is now signed to DEF JAM records on their DEF CLASSICS label along with Patti LaBelle, so look out for new material soon.

I know she has a really great voice but I couldn't stand to listen to any of her music. I am not sure why. All of the songs I have heard drag or so it seems to me. BTW I would love to hear Anita Baker do a version of Blu Cantrells "Sleep In The Middle"

When that girl Rebecca Bond performed "Caught Up in the Rapture" on American Idol 2, I could have sworn they kept saying "Caught up in the Rafters."
It's a nice song :)

This song is pretty much my childhood. My parents are big fans of her.

I used to hear Anita Baker's songs all the time as a kid. My dad never changed the station whenever one was playing. I still like this and "Same Ole Love."
