OK, so I heard this song four different times this past weekend at a conference in Wisconsin, and I have no idea what it's called.
The first time I heard it was at an 80s Dance that they had as part of Friday night's entertainment. What I can remember about the song is that the closest thing to a chorus seems to be a pop sort of beat where there's a succession of three peaks, twice, followed by the line, "Jump on it!" three times. There are verses to this song as well, but I couldn't follow them.
Apparently it was really popular, but probably what surprised me most was the fact that it got played at the 80s dance and yet I'd never heard it before, since I've heard quite a bit of 80s music in the past few years.
What is this song??

This is totally a stab in the dark. Could the lyrics actually be "Jam on it"? I'm thinking it's "Jam On It" by Newcleus. I found a music video of it so you could hear it. youtube.com/watch?v=7pWX46lJc1Y

And I have to go for the night, so I won't be able to watch that video until tomorrow.

It is "Apache"...but I don't know if it was the Sugarhill Gang or if it was someone else's cover. The video sounds close but not quite the same. To be honest, I don't like that video clip - the sound quality isn't that great, and that could be throwing me off.

Different song.
This one I've only ever heard on AC stations.
There's a piano in the melody. The voices in the song sort of divide it into thirds - first is a guy, second is a woman, and the third sounds like a Four Seasons singer.
Some lyrics include: "Won't you stay...just a little bit longer" "(someone) won't mind...if we take a little time, and we leave it all behind" (sung by the guy) A couple of lines end with "say you will"
What is this song? I've heard it quite a few times.

Google helps! ;)
ARTIST: Jackson Browne TITLE: The Load Out / Stay
Now the seats are all empty Let the roadies take the stage Pack it up and tear it down They're the first to come and the last to leave Working for that minimum wage They'll set it up in another town
Tonight the people were so fine, they waited there in line And when they got up on their feet, they made the show And that was sweet, but I can hear the sound Of slamming doors and folding chairs And that's a sound they'll never know
Now, roll them cases out and lift them amps Haul them trusses down and get 'em up them ramps 'Cause when it comes to moving me You know you guys are the champs But when that last guitar's been packed away You know that I still want to play So just make sure you've got it all set to go Before you come for my piano
But the band's on the bus And they're waiting to go We've got to drive all night and do a show in Chicago Or Detroit, I don't know We do so many shows in a row And these towns all look the same We just pass the time in our hotel rooms And wander 'round backstage Till those lights come up and we hear that crowd And we remember why we came
Now we got country and western on the bus, R & B We got disco on eight tracks and cassettes in stereo We've got rural scenes and magazines We got truckers on CB We got Richard Pryor on the video And we got time to think of the ones we love While the miles roll away But the only time that seems too short Is the time that we get to play
People you've got the power over what we do You can sit there and wait or you can pull us through Come along, sing the song You know that you can't go wrong 'Cause when that morning sun comes beating down You're going to wake up in your town But we'll be scheduled to appear A thousand miles away from here
People, stay just a little bit longer We wanna play just a little bit longer If the promoter don't mind and the union don't mind We can take a little time and we'll leave this all behind Singin' one more song
Oh, won't you stay just a little bit longer Please, please, please, say you will, say you will
Oh, won't you stay just a little bit longer Oh, please, please stay just a little bit more, ehehe Now if the promoter don't mind and the roadies don't mind We can take a little time and we'll leave it all behind Singin' one more song

Actually, yes, it is the Browne song: "Stay/The Load Out" is a popular medley of the a-side and b-side of the single. The "leave it all behind" part is the give-away that it's Browne's version and not the original by Maurice Williams and The Zodiacs or one of the many other remakes, including the Four Seasons' one.

I like "The Load-Out", but am not to crazy about "Stay", especially the falsetto part. I find that quite annoying. "Oww, wown't you sta-a-ay. Jahst a little big lahnger...."
I usually switch the station when this song comes on (and it's usually just this song - they NEVER play "The Load-Out" anymore. They also tend to ignore most of his other hits, as well (although I do hear "Somebody's Baby" every once in awhile, so that's good).

New song!
Heard this on WLEW earlier today, so I'm betting there's a good chance that it may be obscure. Male voice, but I think it might be a group/band.
Chorus: I wanna love I wanna give I wanna find another way to live Another shout Another cry And the walls come tumbling down...
The first lines of the first two verses also ended in "...no way out".

Yes "Walls"
Don't you know it's my way out To be on my own. When I feel like crying out I do it best alone. Can you give me love and Protection to shield my heart. All the fear I feel from doubt Is tearing me apart.
I wanna love, I wanna give, I want to find another way to live. Another shout, another cry, And the walls come tumbling down.
Don't you know there's no way out; Your pain's your own, And the more we scream and shout The more we feel alone. I can feel my anger rising- Am I to blame? And I'm not gonna keep it inside me. Do you feel the same?
I wanna love, I wanna give, I want to find another way to live. Another shout, another cry, And the walls come tumbling down. And I'm calling you.

I heard a song on Sunny 101.5's "Lunchtime Seventies" program. Not sure what period of the seventies the song is from, but it's obviously and album rock hit. In the chorus, it sounds like they're yelling, "Liar! Liar, liar liar!" or maybe they're saying "line-up". I've heard it several times before, but I've done a google search and come up with nothing.

It could be Argent's "Liar," which has a fairly big hit in a version by Three Dog Night.

Take four...
I'm almost positive this is an 80s dance-pop song, judging by the synth-based melody.
Male voice. A couple of lines (from the chorus, I believe):
"My heart don't cry no mo'..." "My heart don't wait no mo'..."
