This is okay but not really one of my favourite Lightfoot tunes.

This and "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" were his 2 best songs IMO.
"Sundown" even hit the country chart - a 1st for Lightfoot.

This is definitely NOT one of my favorite Gordon Lightfoot songs. I preferred his songs that peaked in the lower reaches of the charts (though I do like the Top Ten hits "If You Could Read My Mind" and "Carefree Highway") My mom used to listen to his music all of the time, so I know most of his hits. I was surprised that his 1975 album "Cold On The Shoulder" yielded only one Top 40 hit that didn't even do very well ("Rainy Day People") That was one of my favorite albums and so many songs on it deserved to be hits ("Rainbow Trout" is a good example).
"Sundown" is OK at best, but it doesn't hold a candle to most of his other material.

Good song. I don't know much about his other music. Shocker mentioned "Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald". That's a song about the SS Edmund Fitzgerald, which sank in Lake Superior in 1975.

Yeah, and the song was played on AT40: The 80s this past weekend, since it was the tenth anniversary of the disaster.
