Before Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Guy, Troop, and other New Jack Swingers, there was the Force MD's. While their success was low key, this top ten ballad was a much bigger success than the movie it actually was written for... KRUSH GROOVE. It was the Force MD's first top ten, and it was the first top ten single for the outstanding producing/writing team of Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. "Tender Love" is an incredible ballad and always puts a smile on my face when I hear it. The Force MD's story was a short one that ended far too soon with the loss of lead vocalist T.C.D. (Antoine Lundy) to A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease) and Charles "Mercury" Nelson to a heart attack. But this timeless hit is a reminder of the gifts they left behind.
I heard it just a little while ago and figure I'd post it and see if anyone else likes it as much as I do.

I like it. Of course Frankie J. ripped it off for "Don't Wanna Try".

Awesome ballad! I never get tired of hearing it (which is not too often, which helps its cause).

There were two versions of this song. One was with them singing "La la la" after the piano solo, in the other one, they repeated the chorus, "Tender Love/love so tender/holding me close to you/Baby I surrender"
I really like the song and was surprised that it only peaked at #9, since its initial progress on the chart was very good (especially the week it moved ahead 32-21). I guess people just got tired of it fast.

It's overplayed on AC radio, although I like it.

Uncle Sam remade it on his one and only CD, I was listening to that the other day, then of course I couldn't get in to it, it's just not the same as the Force M.D.s.

I liked this song so much, I bought it for my Grandmother when it was popular. She liked the song as well. My mother even liked the song. It was such a nice tune.

One more note British blue-eyed soul singer Kenny Thomas also remade the song. I saw the video a couple days ago on the YouTube. That's best remake of the song that I have heard so far.

LOL, it is... Classic slow JAM! :) I remember it was used as background music in "Krush Groove" during the love scene between Sheila E and Blair Underwood.

I love this song. One of my favorite slow jams ever. It's so sweet.
As far as a movie called KRUSH GROOVE with Sheila E. and Blair U., I've never even seen it! I only vaguely remember hearing of the name.

This hit #4 on the R&B chart.
The Force MD's were just featured on Unsung.

The piano intro is memorable as I also heard it sampled in the beginning part of Bone Thugs N Harmon's "Days of Our Livez" (LP version, not the radio edit). I wasn't too crazy over the original song itself as I wasn't a big fan of ballads/love songs growing up and the song often got stuck in my head. I must had heard this song alot on the AC and urban stations in my market.
BTW, I actually saw "Krush Groove" on MTV when I was younger but didn't know this song was part of the soundtrack until much later. I also remember seeing the music video on BET when that station was counting down their best 80s/old school music videos.

He was 57. All but two of the original six members have died relatively young.

I don't know how many members of the group they had but this is now the 5th original member that had passed away at such an early age.

I don't know how many members of the group they had but this is now the 5th original member that had passed away at such an early age. They started out as The L.D.s.: Stevie D Lundy Rodney "Khalil" Lundy Antoine "T.C.D." Lundy Jessie Lee Daniels Charles "Mercury" Nelson Trisco Pearson DJ Dr. Rock (joined later but before they signed as Force M.D.s) Only the first 2 on the list are still living. The rest all died young of various illnesses.

This is probably my favorite song by them. I also enjoy "Love Is A House" and "Forgive Me Girl."
