I didn't really like it at first, but it works its way under your skin until you can't help but like it. I agree that it was a risky first single, especially considering the more radio friendly material that would be released later. It has become one of my favourite singles of that year.

I was always an Aaliyah fan, but this was a mess to me. She rebounded with Rock the Boat though!

I love this song. The video was great and the lyrics are very wise-ass if you really listen to them. They always make me chuckle. I actually liked Timbaland's rap and that's rare; and his production was top notch as always.

If released today, I think this would go to #1.

MTV would ALWAYS use the instrumental during their "newsdoc" shows.
Yeah, I kinda just discovered this song and got into it not too long ago and it really is very well crafted and was well ahead of it's time. Very haunting.

I love this song but not as much as her singles from One In a Million. The video was the first time I saw the sexy side of Aaliyah with the snake wrapped around her neck.

She did give a great vocal on this track. The album this song is featured on is actually good. She was coming into herself musically.

This is one of my favorite Aaliyah songs and definitely my favorite on The Red Album. It was a bit ahead of its time, so I can see why it flopped. And the video ia really hot, too.

This is easily my favorite single from her. So so hot, and it definitely had an edge for its time. Timbaland really knocked this one into outer space.
Had this been released in 2007 by most popular acts, it would have been a big crossover hit. Ironically, if it was released today though, it'd probably around how it did originally since this sound went out of vogue around the turn of the decade. Funny how cyclicality works.

One of the best singles of the early 2000's. Can't believe how poorly it was received.

It wasn't one of my favorite songs either and wasn't surprised it flopped. The video is so sexy and at the time was so different than anything she'd done before.

The 15th Anniversary of "We Need A Resolution" came a few days ago. Released on April 13, 2001 Aaliyah featured Timbaland on what would become her last Lead Single during her lifetime. The music video was shot April 6-8, 2001 and World Premiered on 106 & Park & TRL on April 26, 2001 and went on to become ranked 8th and 6th, respectively, on Slant Magazine's Best Singles and Music Videos of 2001. 21st on Slant Magazine's Best of the Aughts: Singles list, 30th on Stylus Magazine's Top 50 Singles: 2000–2005. In October 2011, NME placed it 119th on its list 150 Best Tracks of the Past 15 Years.

I remember being a little disappointed with this when it first came out, but it's a great song. The whole Aaliyah album is spectacular.

Not only a standout Aaliyah song in her discography, but one of the best R&B singles of the 00s for me. Just a fantastic song sonically with a perfect vocal delivery and a fantastic music video to go with it.

The BEST thing Aaliyah has put out. Such a flawless song from the beat, to the hooks, to the vocal delivery, to the video treatment, to the choreo during Tim's verse, everything worked so well for me. I remember seeing the video and being in awe at the sole lane Aaliyah was driving in on her R&B journey - she really did push the sounds forward, and I think that's where the public was like, slow down girl, we're waiting for a white girl to make these sounds popular.

I liked this from day one. Sometimes songs with this tempo takes me a second to get into. Maybe it was the slight Middle Eastern influence mixed with the flawless production that did it for me. I instantly remember loving all the kind of call and response she does with herself throughout the song. I was disappointed it underperformed when it was released. Still a favorite of mine.
