A Toy Solider just introduced me to Vanessa Williams' classic "(He's Got) The Look." :o Vanessa could've been a legendary diva! When did she start singing boring crap like "Colors of The Wind" and "Save The Best For Last"? "The Look" is a glimpse at the potential Vanessa had. It is the route she should've taken her music and style with. Fun, funky, and very sassy! I have to get my hand on Vanessa's debut album now. The CLASSIC video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q--k7MMtUtkI am gonna learn how to do the dance moves now.

I completely agree that Vanessa's music went downhill when she started to focus on those dull, schmaltzy AC ballads. I definitely prefer her mid-tempo and uptempo tunes like "Comfort Zone" and the album version of "The Way That You Love."
As for "(He's Got) The Look": It's a nice song, but nothing spectacular. I prefer "The Right Stuff" to this one... But I'd take either of those songs over "Colors Of The Wind," "Love Is," etc.

lol. i think she went the way of the "boring crap" because she became popular with it. when asked about vanessa william's singing career, no one is going to mention "the look." they're going to mention "save the best for last" "colors of the wind" and "love is."
if she didn't do songs like that she probably would've never reached the level she got to.

I like both. Dreaming, Save The Best For Last and Colors Of The Wind are all beautiful songs and she has a perfect voice for that kind of stuff, but I also LOVE Runnin Back To You & The Right Stuff.
And i'd imagine she started focussing on the classy ballads when The Look & The Right Stuff flopped, but Dreaming became a big hit.

Hate it. "saved the best for last" and "love is" 2 of her are her best songs.
"Work to do" "runnin back to you" and "happiness" are her best uptempos.

I like pretty much all of her songs. She has a beautiful voice. I asked a neighbour of mine in the UK to tape this song for me, and apparently she forgot to do that. But I did get the "The Right Stuff" though. Though I wanted this song years and years ago, I still did not think it was anything special.

I've always been a fan of "Darlin' I" and the entire "The Sweetest Days" album.

I've always been a fan of "Darlin' I" and the entire "The Sweetest Days" album. Yeah, except for the title track, The Sweetest Days is a really excellent album. There are so many great tracks on it -- my favorites are "The Way That You Love" and "Sister Moon."

"He's Got the Look" didn't crack Billboard's Hot 100?

My favorite nessa song is DREAMIN. ditto. lol this also should of smashed. Vanessa Williams in some regards is so underrated when it comes to her music... it's weird. Save The Best for last is obv. her most well known song and is good, but is still kinda overrated. Hm, her music career is kind of a clusterfuck to me though... lots of underrated material from her.

I like it, but she had several much better singles over the next few years.
