OK, but she overdid it on the album version.

I don't like it as much now as I did then, but still a decent song.

Even though I have started to like her stuff more over the last year or so, I still have trouble tolerating her schlockier material. Not the case with this song, strangely enough.

This isn't one of my favorites of Whitney, but it really is a killer vocal performance. I'd argue to say that it's her most powerful performance and one of the best pop vocals of all time.

This is easily one of Whitney's best vocals...and that says something. She has given us so many amazing performances but this, along with the OMIT Grammy performance and WDIHSB from the MTV Movie Awards will always be in my top 3!

^ I adore the WDIHSB performance as well. Is that the one with her sweating on a stool?

This and "The Greatest Love of All" are my two least favorite of her #1s. Strong vocal performance but the song itself is rather bland and boring. Her 80s adult contemporary pop ballads are some of my least favorite Whitney singles.

Agree about the vocal performance- but not one of my top Whitney songs.,
Plus, Michael Masser's songs were sounding too samey. Before Whitney comes in, this easily could be mistaken for "All At Once."

It's weird, but...this seems like a "paint-by-numbers" perfomance. What I mean by that is...she has powerful vocals on this song, but - it doesn't seem like there's much emotion here at all. Compare that to even a song like "All the Man That I Need" - I can hear emotion behind her vocals there. I don't hear it in this song at all.
It's not even close to being a bad song at all. But an emotional one, it is not.

Usually I don't like the schlocky ballads, but this one is the big exception for me.
altho it occured to me that she doesn't have many songs that don't relate to love/relationships

Her vocal performance is great, but the song itself isn't all that interesting. Not really a favorite.

Whitney's power ballads were my favorite songs from her more than her uptempo since anyone can sing those but it takes a talent like Whitney to sing songs like this.

Yeah it's schlocky, but that vocal performance...UNREAL.

This song never did anything for me. Always thought it was boring & lacked a lot of soul.

Possibly the weakest among her big hits, she has done so much better, for example Where Do Broken Hearts Go, a way cooler song.

This was never one of my favs and over the years it's only gotten worse. I just don't like her vocal performance at all, she oversings to the point of it being grating. Like why is she singing this song like she hates it? And that crack on the last have... I cringe every time.

This and Where Do Broken Hearts Go are her worst #1s, and both are mostly forgotten today thankfully. They're just not exciting at all, and kinda verge on self-parody.

Beautiful song. Epic vocals. She truly was "the voice"
