I primarily heard the second version (or a variation of it) on radio. I do like the first one, that had more of a mix of ballad and uptempo.

Hmmm, the backstory on this is quite interesting. Apparently she originally recorded this with John Springate of The Glitter Band producing*. Then Stock + Aitken (who by this time had split from Waterman) produced their own version, which led to the remake getting released. What's also interesting is that this reached #2 behind a non-R&B/Hip-Hop hit ("Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?"), which would be the only week in all of '95 where both of the Top 2 had not the slightest Urban flavor. (That said, this did also reach #12 on Rhythmic.) I used to hate the original; I don't anymore. I do still prefer Nicki's remake - though I do recognize that it's a pretty well soulless remake, the sound of it wins me over. I prefer the full-dance version, as it's the version I first heard and fell in love with. Oh, and for those who don't particularly care for the remake - apparently at least one Billboard columnist certainly agreed with you. *All this comes from the song's Wiki article, though it certainly explains the J. Springate that's listed on the credits on Billboard.

I heard this song alot on B96, referring to the dance version. This song ended up being B96's 10th most popular song of 1995. I always liked this song despite how cheesy many 90s Eurodance tracks can be. Also, didn't know this was a cover of a 1981 Bonnie Taylor song until I got older as I'm more used to Nicki French's dance cover. the more familiar dance version www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EolLvBcWaA&ballad version (didn't know it existed) www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5cTLKAX3UI&

Not as much as the original but Nicki's version is getting some love this week thanks to the Eclipse today.
