I fucking love her. She actually might have a better shot than Lady Sov at US fame (however I'm not saying they are even that similar, except for being young white British females with varying degrees of urban influence). I bought her album back when it came out in July (IMPORT). When does this go for adds?

It doesn't have an adds date yet.
Her album is awesome, it's great pop music. Her current UK single 'Littlest Things' is my favorite song.

Her cover of "Oh My God" (Kaiser Chiefs) is also excellent.

She has a stupid mouth and she talks s**t about Madonna .. that's enough for me to deslike her. Here are some 'nice' things she had to say about people ... The only way she could describe James Blunt was β it rhymes with his surnameβ. VERY nice! Madonna: "I haven't got anything against her at all but she hasn't done anything since the early eighties that has been like 'wow'. She might have meant something once but I don't know anyone my age who cares." ... Um, see you around in 25 years from now, b***h! Pete Doherty: "I do think he needs to be exterminated. It's a bit dull, isn't it." Paris Hilton: "People like her are useless ... She's hideously untalented. Her music is auto-tuned. You can hear it. I know because my sister saw her in Ibiza and said it was the worst thing she had ever heard. I worked for two and a half years writing my album ... I find it hideous that she's come in and not worked for it at all." Leave the Ibiza Queen alone, Lily! Pussycat Dolls: "They're too skinny, takes all their clothes off, don't say anything, promote womanizing and look like lapdancers as far as Iβm concerned. It's a really bad message to be sending young women. And not just for young women - but for young men. For them to believe that thatβs what women are like in real life in such a hideous concept to sell to people. It's just terrible". Somebody's a little bit jealous! My first and last visit on this thread. Good luck to her! Bye bye!

She's dead on with all of those remarks except for the ones regarding Madonna. I love it when people stir up shit. It needs to be done. The pop industry plays it far too safe. Someone needs to take the piss out of them all.

Damn, she sounds like a total bitch. At least wait until you're an established artist, before you start talking shit.

Why should she wait? This is her moment. She can say what she wants. She has said herself she doesn't give a fuck if this is her 15 minutes...it's just one little blip on the overall timeline of her life. She can do whatever she wants with it.

That sounds even worse. LMAO. Well, if she thinks that this is the peak of her career, I guess you can't argue with that :)

I fail to see where the problem is. She is saying she doesn't care one way or another how she does commercially. I think that's awesome.
I also think it's great she refuses to be a meek little pop studio drone who refuses to badmouth anyone for fear it could damage their own appeal. Brutal frankness is refreshing.

It's good when artists speak their mind. A lot of artists are too politically correct nowadays, but those comments are just downright nasty. lol

This song is really bad... I never understood it's success in the UK.

She's unlikely to match Blunt's US success, Madonna's longevity, Doherty's notoriety, Paris' popularity on adult video search engines, or PCD's sex appeal...... but she gets props from me for calling it like she sees it (and for the most part, she's dead on).
"Smile" isn't anything special, but it's a good enough song, and preferrable to a lot of what's being played on my local pop station.

OK,
While her song is pretty good pop music, I doubt the fact that she has genuine talent. Yes, she took two and a half years to make an album, but does she realize that most artists take a lifetime to come up with their first album?? Plus her father is a British actor..I wonder who fronted all the money for her to probably work with topnotch people on this??
Also, the whole 'I'm outspoken' thing is so overrdone. One word for Miss Lily: PINK.

Why when she's right for the most part?
(I'll disagree with her on Madonna tho...!)

LOL, what a little bitch. We can a name a ton of celebs that are outspoken. She isn't the only one stirring up shit. Gimme a break. Dissing other established artists to get attention is such a shitty way to draw people to her music. Especially when your music is nothing groundbreaking or that good. The song sucks, she sucks, I hope she flops. If she really didn't care about her commercial success, she would've let her music do the talking and not her, since she's "oh, so talented" unlike the people she dissed.

She's facing a massive backlash in the UK because of her comments... it's fine to make the odd swipe at an artist, but NOT when you've only just started, and NOT when you're doing it all the fucking time! Her music is average at best, it gets VERY irritating when it gets overplayed though (as UK radio has insisted on doing all summer)...

I don't think it's fair to say her UK success is solely down to her bitching, though. "Smile" hit #1 before she started badmouthing pretty much every artist going (which seems to have had a very negative effect on her sales). The thing that got her noticed in the first place was mainly because she got signed to a label due to her MySpace...

She's extremely critically acclaimed. I'm not sure where people are getting this "her music is average at best" nonsense from. I mean, if you really don't like it, fine. But it's not like that's the overall consensus on her sound. A LOT of people like her music, and yes, it is unique. Who cares if her father helped her get her foot in the door? What really rocketed her to fame is her online fanbase more than anything else. I just think it's funny how people get so uncomfortable when someone refuses to put on a "nice" front. Social solidarity be damned! We've been exposed to Hilary Duff for way too long. And just because Pink speaks out, does that mean the quota has been filled in the pop scene? One female hothead allowed per year, is that it? hahaha

Obviously an artist like Pink wasn't the first one to speak her mind, but she's the most recent one to do so in the U.S. (and in the rest of the world that actually enjoys her)
There's just something fishy about this girl..The whole 'my daddy was famous' thing has dissapointed music fans before, see: Kelly Osbourne ..Not that I ever even liked her, she just never amounted to anything. Allen rubs me the wrong way. She makes great pop songs(or so i hear), but so can so many other people. NEXT

Her music is average at best, it gets VERY irritating when it gets overplayed though (as UK radio has insisted on doing all summer)... If she's facing a massive backlash, then 'LDN' would not have made the Top 10. And what's more the subject of the song would turn people off from buying it, but it still made Top 10. Her music is very unique and critically acclaimed. It's not 'average' or 'shit', it's just very different and perhaps people in the US aren't use to it.

I'm shocked at the overwhelmingly negative response from this board. It's completely atypical. Is it because she cut a little too close to home with her remarks? Do we really care if PCD get called out for the anonymous wind up f**k dolls they are? I guess so. If she starts talking about the precious Danity Kane, God knows what people will do. HAHAHAHA. Wow.

*Yawns to her song and comments*
Not like that hasn't been said about Paris & PCD for 135235th time or that people would get pissed off about her saying that but the Madonna thing takes it too far. That's a Dixie Chick move right there (but least years later most agreed with em lol, don't think your gonna find much who agree with that Madonna statement), you just don't say that about someone as internationally huge and respected as the Queen of Pop is. Stupid, stupid, stupid - releasing this song here would be welcoming a flop.

I actually know quite a few people who like Lily Allen already, and they are your average Top 40-informed types. I wouldn't count her out because of her supposed attitude problems.

If attitude affects chart performance, I see Lily getting a No. 1 hit out of this, like P!nk & Avril had before. No seriously, even Avril's previous bratty attitude & P!nk's outspoken ways had not affect them, I doubt it will affect Lily. Now it's all on how the US radio accepts this song.
