The success of Stars On 45 inspired a short-lived medley craze in 1981-82. One of the acts who benefitted was the Beach Boys, who scored their biggest hit in over five years with this medley of 14 songs from their glory years. It hit #12 on the Hot 100 (note: the single mix that got radio airplay cuts out six songs, segueing from "I Get Around" directly into "Shut Down"). Good Vibrations (#1/’66) Help Me, Rhonda (#1/’65) I Get Around (#1/’64) Little Deuce Coupe (#15/’63) Little Honda (#65/’64) Hawaii (album cut/’63) 409 (#76/’62) Noble Surfer (album cut/’63) Dance, Dance, Dance (#8/’64) Shut Down (#23/’63) Surfin’ Safari (#14/’62) Barbara Ann (#2/’66) Surfin’ U.S.A. (#3/’63) Fun, Fun, Fun (#5/’64) s26.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0Z9H2DWEB7DO402S3VGAKVSQX2

I don't really remember this song from when it was popular (hearing it on the radio, I probably just assumed it was a Beach Boys song), but I do remember hearing it on U93 when they flashed back to past summers (as part of their tenth anniversary back in 1989) and on AT40 Flashback once (the 9/26/81 show). It was OK, but didn't really appeal to me too much.

I've heard this a couple times and it's not bad.

Was the original 12 song Beach Boys Medley on a 12" single?
Speaking of Medleys, you didn't mention: The Diana Ross and the Supremes Medley of Hits (1981) Kansas' Best of Kansas Medley music video (1984) Duran Duran's Burning the Ground 12" single to plug the Decade Greatest Hits album (1989-1990) The K.C. and the Sunshine Band Megamix Medley (1993) The Zapp and Roger Mega Medley (1993) The Grease Megamix with "You're the One That I Want", "Greased Lightning", and "Summer Nights" with John Travolta and Olivia Newton John (UK Top 5 1991, made Top 20 R&R 1996) and don't forget "Hooked on Classics", "Hooked on Swing", and "Hooked on Big Bands".

I like that this one features all their classic songs. It reminds me of those Full House episodes they were featured in. It makes me want to go to California right now! Their sound was pretty unique.
