No one gives these guys props, they have some classics.... I just got their #1s album and its got all these awesome songs that they did that I didn't even know. My buddy at UMVD told me about it so I got it and now I just listen to it when i work out or chill around the house. I'm probably gonna get my mom a copy for Christmas. Anyone else like the Bee Gees? What's your fav. song of theirs?

Anyone else like the Bee Gees? What's your fav. song of theirs? Heck yeah! And not afraid to admit it. Top of my list would be "Love You Inside Out", "Stayin' Alive", and "Run To Me".

FINALLY! Someone who appreciates the Bee Gees. Since the group broke up after one of the Gibb brothers died, their music is still timeless to this day.I have a few favorites: Night Fever, You Should Be Dancin', Jive Talkin', How Deep Is Your Love and Tragedy among others.
By the way welcome to the boards, snfever.

They're undeniably amazing songwriters, but I don't like their voices, so I much prefer it when other artists reord their songs.
My faves:
Yvonne Elliman - If I Can't Have You Dionne Warwick - Heartbreaker Barbra Streisand - Woman In Love Steps - Tragedy

Jive Talking is the sole bright spot in the Bee Gees oeuvre in my opinion. The Gibbs were highly talented songwriters, but I have a personal rule which dictates that noses are for breathing and expelling excess phlegm, not for singing. I dislike almost all of their music for the same reason I disliked, for example, much of Black Sabbath and Willie Nelson. It had nothing to do with talent, but everything to do with execution.
The live version of Jive Talking is so outstanding that even the wretched vocals don't screw it up. It is this band's masterpiece. On the other hand, Staying Alive is unforgivable. If one isists on singing through one's nose, one must accept that there are certain notes that one should never, under any circumstances whatsoever, attempt to hit. That rule is flaunted with SA, and the result is something less satisfying than the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard.

Too many great songs to name! My fave would probably be "Too much heaven". I have that double CD that came out in 2001 or so. It had 40 songs. I believe it was called "For the Record".
I also loved the songs they did for other artists like "Emotion" for Samantha Sang, "Heartbreaker" for Dionne Warwick and "Islands in the Stream" for Kenny and Dolly among others.

I learned to play the guitar with the Bee Gees songbook.  I like "How Deep is Your Love" the best. I know they are kind of a joke, but when you hear one of their songs on the radio or at the drug store (like I just did) you realize what great artists and songwriters they are.Â
