Such a delightful song that still gets a fair amount of airplay 20 years after its debut.

Love this song. Has a sound that does define the 80s. Wow, is it really 20 years old?

Love this song. Has a sound that does define the 80s. Wow, is it really 20 years old? Almost. I think it debuted around November 1987, maybe October. Love this, my 2nd favorite from her behind I Get Weak.

I'm thinking it was early '87. "I Get Weak" was late '87-early '88.

Whenever I think of 80s music, I think of either "Always Something There to Remind Me" or this.
Lovely song.

YES! My favorite song from Belinda for sure. It reached #1 in US and UK, and it became her signature song, and in a way the beginning of a signature sound -- the children choir with harmonious melodies. This was the sound that Rick Nowels came with for Belinda. They repeated it in songs like Summer Rain, Leave a Light On, Runaway Horses (as a side note, Rick later co-wrote Madonna's The Power of Goodbye). Also, the sound of the chorus is based on the aria "Schlafe, mein Liebster, genieße der Ruh'"" from Johann Sebastian Bach

Brilliantly infectious. A song that I can't understand anyone not enjoying.

It is infectious- remember when Madonna backup singer Donna De Lory sang it in Truth or Dare? Of course, 1990-era Madge rolled her eyes.

one of my favorites from the 80s. I loved CIRCLE IN THE SAND and the totally underrated SUMMER RAIN, SR is an amazing song.
She has a new Best Of CD with a new song called SUN. its a really great catchy song also!

A true classic of the 80s. It easily sounds like a record of its time, but it holds up very well.

33 years ago today, "Heaven is a Place on Earth" by Belinda Carlisle reached No.1 on the Hot 100 in its eleventh week on the chart. A month later, it also reached No.1 in the U.K. for a couple of weeks. An '80s Pop classic for sure! Her second album, "Heaven on Earth" also spawned the Top Ten hits, "I Get Weak" and "Circle in the Sand" which peaked at No.2 and No.7 in 1988.

I love this one, as well as all of the U.S. singles from the album. I don't think I've ever listened to the full album, though.

Her best song. This was occasionally played as 80s gold on the AC/Hot AC stations in my market when I was younger.

One of the best pure Pop songs of the 80s. Granted, the chorus is jacked straight from Livin' On A Prayer, but considering that Livin' On A Prayer deserves every bit of overplay it's gotten over the years, that's not such a bad thing. Easy pick if I ever do a Best Hit Songs of 1988 list.

Pure pop joy. Great song. Great video. And this was the video where Belinda first went with the red hair.
Perfection.

Killer track, obviously her signature song. Love the Shep mix. I was only 7 when it came out, but it felt massive at the time. I have such vivid memories of this constantly being on television and on the radio.
