Great song from the summer of 1994. Maybe if the fade hadn't been so long, it would've done better at Top 40 stations. Anyway, it brings me back to a happy time.

When you said 1994, it caught my attention since this song is on the The Best of 1980-1990 CD. I looked on Allmusic and noticed that this charted on various Billboard charts in 1989 and 1994.
Anyone know the story on this song (re-release, new version, etc.)?

The song was from 1988. It's the last track on Rattle and Hum, and it was released as a single from that album. I believe it was placed prominently on a movie soundtrack (I forget which one) from '94 and that led to the re-release. It was on the first R&R Alternative chart at #16 which was also its peak.
I thought the video for this was so sublime. A gorgeous black-and-white clip about a little person who was in love with a female acrobat, but it appears the love is unrequited and he attempts to take his own life. I haven't seen it in a long time, but it's definitely one of their best videos.

This song was largely instrumental.
