A rare British chart topper of the 90's. #1 on the hot 100 for a week, and #1 CHR for 8 weeks. Probably the second most succesful British hit in the 90's in the USA on airplay behind Donna Lewis (Elton John having had the biggest sales hit)
Needless to say I loved this song. What a voice, what a performance. Timeless. I wish he was more succesful these days, even though his latest material isn't really grabbing me. 'Loves Divine' has been HUGE in Germany though, hopefully when it goes to Pop in a few weeks it'll give him some attention.

The only time on the chart where you had 2 back-to-back songs that both spent 8 weeks at the top:
I'll Be There For You - 8 weeks Kiss From A Rose - 8 weeks
"Now that your rose is in blume..."

Paraphrasing what I said in the U2 thread:

I use to love this song but now I think it is way over-rated. It's not even his best song

Also my favorite from him. I only liked it though, I didn't love it like a lot of other people.

I love this song but sometimes when it comes on the radio I switch the dial just because it sounds so 90's and that gets depressing sometimes. Loves Divine gives me that same feeling even though it recent:P

Have you ever noticed that the opening notes (with him singing "da da da da da...") sound sort of like the opening notes of "Our Love" by Natalie Cole?
The latter of those two songs is better, though. Like Mike, I liked the song back when it was popular, before it received gross overplay.

Beautiful song. I didn't care much for it when it was first released, but 10 years later I consider it a classic.

I loved it on first listen. And I was sooo disappointed when it flopped in the UK :( And probably was cancelled in the US. That's why I was VERY happy when it was re-released because of the Batman movie :)

Fantastic song. It's definitely his most catchiest song. The production brings out that feeling of sadness perfectly. I remember singing to this over the phone with one of my buddies back in 95 LOL. It spent 3 weeks at #1 on my personal chart but looking back now, I think it should have spent more than that. This and "Crazy" are without a doubt my favorite Seal songs.

Reminds me of graduation from high school. 10 years ago. I'm getting old!!! :) YOU'RE getting old? At least you were just graduating from high school. I was going to my fifth year class reunion (in fact, I remember hearing it on the way to the reception hall where the reunion was held). This was in late July, 1995, so I think "I'll Be There For You" was still number one that week. A more appropriate song for such an occasion. But I'm pretty sure that "Kiss From A Rose" was in the Top Ten at that point.
